  1. i almost only fish golf course tanks. my buddy is the member so i cant go without him(sucks!) i even went and asked, they said sure, it is $100 a month to be a member!! the public can golf there but you cant fish it unless your a member, or go with a member. it is great fishing tho, the one i go to has like 10-15 tanks. some of which are connected to lake waco, so you can also catch white bass and hybrid stripers too. Cliff
  2. his is Zoey. i rescued her from the humane society last firday. she is nine months old and is a blue heeler(australian cattle dog)mix. the humane society didnt know what she was mixed with, but they think a collie and i agree, with the longer snout and the whiteish eyes. she is about 40lbs and i have no idea if she will get much bigger or not. first day or two was kinda rough with my one cat attacking her like he was starring in an episode of wild kingdom!! but she has come around wonderfully. she is very smart and has several of the basic commands(sit, stay, down, come, heel, fetch) just about dialed in. and she is really great with my two young nephews who live with me. one of my cats tho, the 10lb lion, still has issues with the dog, but from what i have heard and read, it just takes time, they will come around eventually. any way she is great and i look forward to many years of fun with her! thanks Cliff

  4. C'mon...That's silly. : i have to agree with the sammy thing, i have had one for almost a year now. it is much harder to walk, and i havent had a fish even consider looking at it. but they are all over my spook jr. keep your eyes on the flea market, you might find this sammy up in there soon! Cliff
  5. trilene XT, 10lb, 12lb, 17lb...thats it!
  6. it might not LOOK like it is very hard, trust me it i no walk in the park, wasnt for me anyway!
  7. well i kinda am, but not really. a few months ago i was out and i was sitting there yappin with my buddy while reeling in my lake fork live magic shad, not really paying attention to my fishing. then i got bit, big! fought the fish, right in front of me for a few seconds, it jumped, and came unbuttoned. some think i am crazy but i bet that fish was all of ten pounds. so now every outing, i always hit this spot for a bit. i usually throw a jig or big worms, hoping for that one bite again, this time while i am in tune with what i am doing. i will post the pics WHEN i catch it ;D Cliff
  8. i have a kershaw ken onion series knife that i FOUND while fishing one day. i dont know much about knives but this one is really nice. although i would never pay the actual retail price for it ($200+) it is a great knife, you might want to look into this brand for something in your range. Cliff
  9. randy couture?? thought he was done for good this time??
  10. good lookin baits ya got there. i was just curious, you sure do post alot of pics of baits you make. how many do you figure tou make in a year? ballpark figure? do you sell them or are they just for you? Cliff
  11. my custom rod that alpster built for me has a warranty. if i dont like it or whatever, i get a full refund for the labor charge. ;D i didnt pay any labor charge if you were to beak it how easily could it be replaced? how about again? and again? i dont think it could be replaced if i broke it. but that is ok with me. i got a great rod, from a great guy, at a great price. if i did happen to break it, i would probably take it all apart and use the components to build another one. sure i would be ticked if it did break, but stuff happens right? give me an excuse to get a new rod!
  12. thanks, i have been biting my line as long as i can remember. i could probably eat the parasites for dinner and not get sick. the only thing that seems to make me sick is too much sun. i never get a "cold" or the "flu" or anything like that. anyway i am goping to spool it back up with 17 XT today. i have tried it before but i didnt give it a fair shot like someone here mentioned. this time it will get a fair trial. i want to have a heavier line cuz this is my jig rod, and, i plan to throw some swimbaits with this set up soon. Cliff
  13. my custom rod that alpster built for me has a warranty. if i dont like it or whatever, i get a full refund for the labor charge. ;D i didnt pay any labor charge
  14. well i tried it out a bunch more, and although it hasnt given me any trouble, or problems with hook ups or anything, i am going back to trilene XT. this might sound crazy, but the main reason i am switching back is because i cant bite the line with my teeth. thats how i do it when changing lures. being that i only use two set ups, i change baits frequently. it takes too much time to get out a knife cut it off, then cut off the knot(pet peeve), tie on new bait, cut tag end. with my teeth it take sonly seconds. anyway, i feel i gave it a fair shot, but i am going back. howeverr i do like the 10lb braid on my nephews UL set up, i plan to stick with it for that. Cliff
  15. decided to hit the private tanks this evening. currently one of my revo's is in for service so i only had my one set up, but i brought along my nephews little ultra light i got for him. it is a berkley cherrywood, with a mitchell avocet reel spooled with 10 lb power pro. i threw a horney toad out for a bit and got one dink. then i grabbed the UL and nailed about 6-7 more dinks one flukes and trick worms. nothing even keeper size but man was it fun on that little rod! the fish in these tanks are mean little suckers, they fight hard and dont give up. nothing with any size to speak of but it sure beat sitting on my butt watchin the tube! Cliff
  16. YOU can get rid of vista on your computer, it is actually pretty easy, but make sure you have XP(or other operating system) ready to install.
  17. will anyone ever beat silva!!??
  18. We were talking, laughing and having fun, no doubt about it... I just happened to have a night where even subtle bites felt vicious. It wasn't a case of concentration or focus. maybe i should stop trying to focus and concentrate so much and i would have better luck. i am always thinking about what i am doing or not doing, too fast or too slow. then, the one second i start yappin with my buddy i get bit and miss!! so what did ya catch flechero, anything good? where you fishing belton? Cliff
  19. i only have two rods, both of which are customs. one is a 6' MH that alpster built for me on a shikari blank. it is pretty awesome, built to exactly what i wanted. the second is a 6'6" H that i built with flecheros guidance on an allstar blank. also exactly what i wanted. i wouldnt trade either for the best loomis or st croix rod out there. both are spiral wrapped too. i am currently planning my next two rod builds, one will be a crankin stick that i plan to use an EVA grip on, the other will be a worm rod. i have never used a high end factory rod, and dont plan to. i am learning to make my own and plan to keep it that way. Cliff
  20. welcome back man! Cliff
  21. moving is not really an option. i am living for free in a home my inlaws own, my rent is i am raising their grand children that the kids idiot parents cant do themselves
  22. here is the deal. i fish on a golf course, but the only way i can is if my buddy is with me cuz he is the one with the membership. believe me it totally sucks having to rely on someone to get on the water. i dont blame him tho, he is young and fishing isnt high on his priority list, at least it isnt according to his girlfriend. ;D anyway i want to go fishing this weekend, i dont care where. if anyone in the central texas (or close) area has a backseat open or a little extra room on the bank. let me know. i am more than happy to give up some fuel money or buy lunch or something. just shoot me a PM and we will go from there. ok now that that is out of the way. what would you do if in my situation? sure i can go to these two private tanks. but they are VERY small and rarely produce much. i could go and fish the shore of lake waco, which for me has never produced a keeper. the golf course where i go is great, like ten different good sized tanks which all produce good fish, usually. i have contacted the local club here but i need to have a partner, with a boat, and i have had no luck finding anyone. sorry i am just a bit frustrated, my little rant is over. sorry mods if this should have went somewhere else, feel free to move it. Cliff
  23. he is screwed now, i am going there and i am gonna catch all his hawgs!!! ;D nice fish man Cliff
  24. very nice, i like the cork design as well!
