  1. i fish from the bank, and i admit, i am hard on my gear, no doubt about that, i just toss the sucker down to lip a bass or whatever. but i bought the stuff to fish with, not to have it look all pretty and worry about scratching it up. the guy i have taken it to uses "hot sauce" mixed with another "high dollar oil" thats what he told me, after i get my reels from him, i can see the red "hot sauce" on the worm gear, if that helps. i know i should have sent it to Abu the first time, but that fact that i only have two reels, losing one for that amount of time hurts, but i think now i should maybe send it to someone. can i send it to you reelmech? if so where/what to i need to go/do? thanks for the input Cliff
  2. here is the story. i have two Revo S-L's, thats it, those are my only two reels. i have had one since last x-mas and the other only a few months. the older one has had several problems, mainly pawl's and worm gears. i have spent about $70 in repairs on this one reel, and it is messed up again as of today, seems like the worm gear again. the other reel has been fine but i havent fished it nearly as much as the first one. I have had it with this reel!! i dont know if i should have it repaired again and hope it lasts. or repair it and sell it. or send it in to Abu Garcia. i am sick of paying again and again to fix it, i just dont have the money to keep doing this. what would you do? maybe i am way off but if i pay $100 for a reel i guess i expect it to last a while without any problems. my previous abu C3's were great, one went 5 years without anything, not even a cleaning. but i switched to a LP reel due to some hand issues. any thoughts, besides "buy a shimano"? ;D i am considering selling both "as is" and switching brands or something. anyone wanna trade!!?? thanks Cliff
  3. i am VERY excited! the summer fishing for me was CRAP!! i just couldnt seem to figure them out. it was the same last year though. hopefully i will do as good in the fall/winter as i did last year too. thats when i had my best fishing. Cliff
  4. wish i could make one pack last a year. i use the mach 3's as well, i go through probably 4-6 four packs a year. thanks for the tip, i will try i out.
  5. hmmm, well i have yet to catch five keepers in one outing, so i dont know! i know, pretty sad. my PB is only 5lbs so you can figure if i did catch 5 bass, it probably wouldnt be much! Cliff
  6. finally got a couple that i thought deserved having their picture made. 2.8lbs on a blue/black jig with netbait paca craw 2.0lbs on a white terminator spinnerbait. yeah thats right, i got me some avid shades too!!! Cliff
  7. i bring everything i own. which isnt much. currently i have two combos, both BC's. and my box. which is a small tackle bag that carries one plano box with hard baits and a big pile of soft plastics. plus the scale, pliers, camera, etc etc. actually, right now i only bring one combo cuz a guide broke of my other one, so it is out of comission. Cliff

  13. Revo S-L spooled with 10lb trilene XT, custom 6' MH rod made for me by Alpster, black on black 3/8 cavitron buzzbait.
  14. i get mine at wally world, ten bucks!!! then when they fly off my head while cruising in the boat, or when i jump in to get on the tube with them still on, or when i take my hat off to wipe my brow and they go flying in....i am not mad, they were ten bucks!! Cliff
  15. man i would jump on this one, if i wasnt about 200 miles away!! good luck! Cliff
  16. nice fish!! i caought on once that was just a baby, 36 inches, i guessed it to be around 10-12lbs. what a fight! i caught mine on a light spinning rig with 6lb test. i was walleye fishing, and while reeling in about a 10 inch walleye, it ate it. took me a looong time to land, but when i did, my little 1/8 jig head was hooked right in the corner of it mouth, with a walleye all mangled and dangling up my line. thanks for the nice words guys. just a little FYI. their parents are around, both live here in waco actually, but they have never really lived with them. they lived with my mother in law for the two years before we took them in...so two years with her, one year with us, and one of them is only 4!!! in short, the mother and father are useless as n a bull! thanks again Cliff

well some of you may know from my posts and/or pictures that my two young nephews have been living with me and my wife, for over a year now. well today we had court to make it official, and we won! we have permanent custody of them. their parents are now required to pay US child support, and can only have visits on a certain weekend per month, if they cant do it then...to bad, maybe next month(now we can legally tell them "no"). additionally any uninsured medical costs are split 50/50 between the mother and father. we had a great attorney and they didnt have a leg to stand on. it was too easy. now these two great boys can continue to have a stable home environment. although i do fear it will cause them some emotional problems down the road, but until then, and when that time comes, we will do our best to love them as if they were our own!! thanks for reading Cliff
  20. yeah we have been having the same temps here too, with the same index as well. i went out yesterday evening around 6pm, it was miserable untill about 8:15, but by then with only two dinks between me and my buddy, we had had enough. i cant seem to catch a decent fish in this weather even working slow and in the deepest water i can find from shore. man i cant wait for winter time again.
  21. its been like that here too, but i was out in it yesterday, and for only one stupid dink. i just cant seem to have any luck in this heat.
  22. the flying J on I-35 just south of waco is selling at $3.65...rest of the area is in the $3.70's
  23. the vet at the shelter said most of the time they have no clue what the dogs are, and she just makes a guess using her skills and knowledge as a vet. here is a link to the only catahoula dog i could find, other than a catahoula bulldog http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/catahoula.htm
