  1. Caught 6 total this morning, 4 keepers. I tried taking short video clips rather than a crappy pic this time, they are sideways but came out pretty good. This was one of my best outings for catching keeper size fish, nothing huge but some good solid bass. All fought hard too!! All caught on a Brad's Wiggler in crawdad except for one on a spinnerbait. I was cranking around a rocky point in about 8 feet of water. tried out deeper with a jig but couldn't buy a bite, nothing happening shallow either. Thanks for lookin!! Cliff
  2. Can't go wrong with a 3/8 jig. I would also recommend a couple 3/8 to 3/4 spinnerbaits. Get the color that best matches your local forage. Look for some Gamakatsu (sp?) hooks, 3/0 or 4/0, EWG, they are sharp and decently priced. Bullet weights in 1/8 to 1/2 should take care of all your texas rig needs. This is general of course, like flippin and pitchin mentioned, if we know where and what kind of water your fishing you will get better info!! Cliff
  3. I have only been late to work twice in the four years I have worked there. Both times I took NyQuil the night before!! That stuff knocks me out big time. However, it also knocks out the sickness. Good Luck with the eyes!!
  4. I am still working on catching five keepers in a single outing. This is a feat I have only accomplished once!!
  5. I use the Sunline FC Sniper in 20# on all my rigs except for one that I use for cranks and topwaters, for it I use 10# P-Line CXX. Trilene XL aways worked well for me on spinning gear.
  6. I like the color, but was expecting to see something red after reading the title. I was thinking red with black flake.
  7. There are some pretty neat videos on Youtube about this. I saw the changing of the guards when I was in 6th grade during a class trip to Washington. Good stuff.
  8. I already have a bunch of the brush jigs that i tied myself, but I am going to jump on some of the football jigs in the Falcon color. Great deal on great jigs!!.
  9. I crank some pretty thick wood. Generally when the bait makes contact I will just stop it for a second so it can float up a bit then continue to crank. Alot of the time it is the first couple cranks after contact when I get the bite.
  10. Awesome! I had a reel question recently and DVT called me up and solved the issue for me over the phone. Good stuff.
  11. I don;t know a bit of spanish, but I hear a Mexican guy I work with cussing, at least thats what I think it is. He always tells me hes "praying"
  12. That was one slick arm bar by Brandao huh? That dude was tappin out before he even completed the roll. Awesome! I like Machida, have always liked watching him fight. My money is on him.
  13. That is actually a pretty good idea. I have a length of garden hose I use to siphon it out when it rains, but a pump would be a good on the water solution. Thanks
  14. Not gonna happen today. Just woke up a few minutes ago and my boat has about 4 inches of water in it, still raining and supposed to continue all day. I am not complaining though, we need this rain badly. Hopefully the lake will come up some and put my precious timber back under water!! Thanks for the help anyway! Cliff
  15. Thanks Bassn Blvd. I just checked the weather again. Looks like it is going to be a bit more windy and warmer than I originally thought. So apparently I will be fishing pre-frontal conditions. I already have a Pointer rigged up in a nice natural shad color painted by Cliff Logue from the tacklemaking section. The only problem I see is if it is raining (80%) too hard I won't be able to go, my Pelican fills up quick! I will let y'all know how it goes. Cliff

I know that feeling well. Good job!!
  17. It is in the low 60's right now, we have had drizzly rain off and on all day. Late tonight the wind is going to switch to the north and temps are going to drop into the upper 40's by sun up. Yesterday morning the water temp was in the low 50's. I will be fishing while this front is blowing in tomorrow morning, looks like some more light rain coming with it. The lake is 8-10 low, most of the timber is on dry land. I plan to put in to one of the major creeks and fish it towards the back. I plan to start with a buzzbait, jerkbait and a jig. What would you be doing in this situation? Any info is much appreciated!! Cliff
  18. Yeah, I actually tied some jigs just for that color, but I have yet to get some.
  19. Nice one Big O!! The Falcon Lake Craw color is on my Xmas list since the Academy here can't get a clue!! I told my wife to stock me up on that color!! Good job! Cliff
  20. Glad everything is OK.
  21. Hard to beat a Rage Craw with a 1/8 tungston weight pegged. Flip that sucker into some brush and hang on!!
  22. Have never used CX but I have been using CXX for a couple years and I haven't had any issues.
  23. Only once past the barb for me. I was fishing a small farm pond, it had a bunch of muck on the surface from the bank out about 8-10 feet or so. When my topwater popper got close to the ring of muck, I would flick it up and over to avoid getting hung in it. Anyway, one time it got hung in the tall grass behind me and instead of turning around and walking five steps to get it out, I yanked that sucker while still facing away from it. It stuck in the back of my upper shoulder (was wearing sleeveless shirt). Cut line and drove to my moms work (elementry school) cuz I didn't know what to do. She sent me to the doc. Had to have it cut out. Cliff
  24. I have used both. The larger round reels however, cause me to get some pain/tingling/hand falling asleep symptoms in my hand. Due to this I don't use round reels anymore. I actually have a brand new Abu C4 lefty that was a gift last Christmas that I can't seem to sell, it just sits on my shelf doing nothing. Cliff
  25. I have always wanted one of these in a lefty!! http://www.japantackle.com/Daiwa_reels/Daiwa_TDito.htm
