Maryland's Who's who!
I made it out just as the winds picked up. Spent about an hour battling the wind and getting a few casts off. Decided it wasn’t too safe at that point and called it a day. I’m going to try to get out this week for a few hours, though it’ll be from the bank as I’ll have my kids with me. Has anyone had found early mornings to be productive yet?

Maryland's Who's who!
I’m off tomorrow and planning on taking the kayak out. I’m a little indecisive and between centennial, rocky gorge, triadelphia, and little Seneca. Anyone been out recently with some insight, or if anyone wants to get out tomorrow I’m up for anything.

Maryland's Who's who!
I fished Piney Run as a kid as I grew up just south of there in Howard County. A guy I used to work with had the record striper out of there at one point. I scouted Black Hills one day while I was working in the area. I’ve heard it has big bass, but haven’t had the chance to go back and fish it. I spend most of my time on the Patapsco and do roughly 2 miles of paddling from my launch point to where I fish and back. I know I’m dealing with more current in the river than I would be at Black Hills, but will I be able to cover enough water up there paddling?

Maryland's Who's who!
It’s been a while since I fished at Farmington, but I remember going down there years ago to try for catfish. Never caught any but did end up catching a few decent bass. Wasn’t sure if that bass population had been destroyed by the blue cats or not. I’ve never been to Mallows, but sunken wood and a creek mouth sounds like it would produce well. Thanks for the tips bud, I really appreciate them.

Maryland's Who's who!
I try to stay out of the way of boat traffic. My first real trip out in the kayak I had a guy blow by me way too close. While I managed to not flip or lose any rods or gear, my cell phone ended up in about 30’ of water in the gunpowder. Fortunately, that was a relatively minor inconvenience. I appreciate that I can pin my kayak in a foot of water with no issue, but also realize the limitations that would make a boat more practical sometimes. Thanks for the tips. I’m mapping and plotting as I type this. Is Farmington Landing practical as well, or would you advise against it? Looking at Google Earth, it looks relatively close to some shallower water that may be promising in the spring. I definitely appreciate the advice. I try to stay out of the open waters as the kayak is limited in what it can handle. If I were to go in the main river, it would be well north of DC, probably beyond great falls, but south of point of rocks. That seems to be a little more doable and practical than dragging the kayak out at national harbor. I’ll look at pohick and slavins. Is Piscataway worth trying?

Maryland's Who's who!
I fully plan on using the kayak for the Potomac. I’d like to hit the river and creeks from around Mattawoman creek, Piscataway, that general area up to the Monocacy. I know the southern bit of that will have a lot of snakeheads mixed in, but that’s basically any river or creek in the state south of Frederick county. I’ve heard conflicting stories as to whether or not they’ve made it up there but I’m sure they’re not far from the Monocacy and points further north. I enjoy catching bass, and have a lot more experience with largemouth than smallies. I’m happy to go anywhere as I enjoy the challenge that comes with new water. I’ve isolated a few targets in Mattawoman and Piscataway from google earth that looked promising, but I’m looking for guidance and maybe someone to meet up and fish with. I don’t want or expect anyone to volunteer their best spots, but a general “that Creek is better towards the mouth than the back in the spring” to point me in the right direction.

Maryland's Who's who!
Hey everyone, I’m new to bassresource, but have been fishing Maryland my whole life. I fish year round. My job my weekend availability, but I’m typically off at least once a week and get out on the kayak, but I bank fish just about every day from March through September, and weather permitting during the colder months. I’m trying to fish the Potomac more this year. I have little experience with it outside of a few attempts around Fort Washington 15 years ago. Any suggestions on where and when to start?
