  1. Mine sits dead straight. Might take you a go or two. Or do you have the bait partially up the angled shank? You can always use Palomar knot if it's doesn't agree with you using a Snell Nice beer!
  2. In the U.S., I'd say your best bet is Omnia Fishing or Hookup Tackle. Hope this helps..
  3. Excellent. Interesting information. Boat is already supported nicely by rear bunk and roller at winch. Just looking for an additional roller to help with proper centering to ease 1 man loading. Thanks again. This was a brief discussion of the boat. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/search/?&q=Uncommon bass boat&search_and_or=and I will update that thread as the boat is setup the way I want now.
  4. I don't find it any more problematic than a spinnerbait. YMMV.
  5. I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I recently started fishing the Raid Japan Egu Chunk and it's really something! It is the loudest small bait I've used. The 3" version buzzes my rod tip like a chatterbait on a firm pull. And I had to run 1/4oz weight to get good action on the drop. Quite a heavy weight for such a small bait. And the bait itself is heavy too. I fish dirty water and I have no doubt this helps the fish find this bait. I can only imagine the buzz the larger 4" version would make. I've fished it both on Jika and Free Rig. Prefer Free Rig, since it can do more with this bait. So far really liking this bait.
  6. Chatterbaits don't have treble hooks..just a single hook identical to ones used in spinnerbaits.
  7. Boat is a featherweight. Boat is 500lbs., 50hp is 200lbs. Rollers are only being used to get the boat easily centered on trailer.
  8. I'm installing a self-centering keel roller on my trailer to help with loading. How high do I set it? Just touching the keel? Barely touching the keel? Any info is appreciated.
  9. So all the rigging got me thinking about the Jika Rig. It doesn't take much as its one of my primary presentations. I've never considered doing it wacky, but I think it will really work. One of the best attributes of the Jika is it drops straight down. And the Flick Shake comes alive on the drop. So the straight drop nature along with the free hook should allow great action. Below are components. I use trout/fly fishing snaps as a quick change system without need to re-tie. Snap off hook or weight to suit. The 3" Egu Chunk with 2/0 Ryugi Infini and 7g (1/4oz) tungsten for my "power" finesse Jika. BTW, that Egu is a potent little thing! Vibrates my rod tip like a chatterbait on the lift! So next is a Wacky Jika with a #1 Hayabusa Spin Muscle hook and a 2g (1/16) tungsten pencil. Pretty compact. Next is a hand tied Jika with a 2g Cheb head. Finally, while not a Jika, but interesting is the Decoy DS-15 in 2g. I screwed in, clipped excess, and put hook through spring. Might increase bait life too.
  10. That ultrahead looks great!
  11. No doubt! I LOVE poop baits. If you think the Yamatanuki skips, you should see the Cover Scat! The small 2.5" weighs 1/4oz and the new 3" nearly 1/2 oz!
  12. Who makes a wacky head that light? Otherwise, I really think I'll throw together a Jika (leaderless drop shot) with one of my wacky/drop shot hooks. The Jika is one of my primary presentations and I actually think it might work great with the Flick Shake worm.
  13. That's pretty much how I'm working...which, apart from minor differences, seems to be more or less the consensus of the videos I've watched.
  14. Understood. But does the drop shot stymie the action though? I don't really want to fish a drop shot. I thought the point of the jig head was for the bait to chase it to the bottom and wobble very naturally? And thanks for the hook recommendation but I already have a fantastic wacky/drop shot hook I love (Hayabusa Spin Muscle)
  15. I agree, but thats all that was immediately available until my Zappus come in. But the hook is certainly not to blame for zero bites IMO. But I think the Zappus will suffer the same problem...getting wrapped in the occasional vegetation cover one might run into. Curiously, when fishing the same area with a Jika Rig, it comes through with zero weeds. I might have to try a Jika with a Hayabusa Spin Muscle hook.
  16. Several videos and discussions, actually. In pockets near vegetation. Presumably why many tackle manufacturers make weedless flick shake heads too. But to your question, I'm not throwing IN the weeds, there just happens to be vegetation interspersed in the areas I fish.
  17. Fished another worm technique today (Jackall Flick Shake). Worm action borders on extraordinary on the drop..WOW! However, it didn't produce a single bite in 2 hours of work. Tied on a Cover Scat before leaving...and a nice fish on 4th cast. I just can't account for why worms are such a fail train here....
  18. Fished it today. VERY disappointed with how much it hangs up on the weeds...despite weedguard. Total failure today. Did not produce a single bite.
  19. Owner makes a drop shot specific EWG hook. https://www.ownerhooks.com/product/down-shot-offset/

Can you put your finger on what changed?
  21. I think you're right! The difference being I have a decent supply of shrink tube on hand in various sizes. Not so much with the silicone tubing, unfortunately.
  22. Excellent catch! Correction made!
