Fixed vs non fixed inductor spools
So you'd recommend a moving inductor if you were throwing ~1/4oz total weight or so on average?

Fixed vs non fixed inductor spools
Can someone explain the pros and cons of each of these? Playing around with converting a Tatula 100 I've got laying around into a BFS reel and I see a lot of people note fixed vs not fixed. Curious about pros/cons etc

Power BFS Rod Recs
Ended up going with an Old 18 Ascent that was rated 1/8-3/8. This was the 7' ML Mod Fast one. I've only had limited action with it but it seems to be what I'm looking for. I was actually using a Curado 70 MGL on it with 20lb braid and was getting 30 yard casts consistently with 5g, so it should fling even better with a proper BFS reel. So far, I'm a supporter of Old 18 rods for BFS sticks

Differences between the new slx150 aand curado 150 mgl
Can't speak to the SLX but I love my Curado 150. Easily one of my three favorites

GAH! i'm a Zillionaire!!
I don't like it lol. I think I'm the only one in the world that feels that way ?

GAH! i'm a Zillionaire!!
If you want another, I've got a barely used (have fished with it less than 10 times) one that I will sell. In excellent condition

Power BFS Rod Recs
I second 10lb 832. I'm using 10lb Sufix nanobraid at the moment and it's been great. Haven't had a single break off. I think 832 would do just as well though

What are you using your Steez A2 for?
Mine is collecting dust at the moment. I rotate it in every now and then but feel similar to you about it in that it's just okay. It's really the frame of it that I don't like. Such a dumb shape imo, wish they would retire this frame. It's about 10 years too old. Other than that I like the reel and I don't really like Daiwas across the board. I'd prob entertain selling it if anyone is interested lol

Power BFS Rod Recs
Anyone have any experience with Old 18? In the past I think I had read that they wouldn't reveal where they sourced their blanks from which gives me a little pause. But if someone has fished one and likes it that's what matters at the end of the day https://old18.com/collections/fishing-rods/products/ascent-70-light-casting-extra-fast

Power BFS Rod Recs
Ok awesome. That sounds promising. I will check it out. Just ordered a Kistler Helium last week actually and I haven't had a chance to fish it yet but feels great Haven't ruled this out yet at all. Super pretty rod. Just doing my DD on options

Power BFS Rod Recs
Right, that's why I had been referencing lure weight. Soft just referring to underpowered relative to what "most" other manufacturers would consider the same power rating. Obviously every rod fishes the way it is intended to by the manufacturer and lines up according to their opinions on power, actions etc. But all of that is relative due to no industry wide standard on what is a M, MH, etc

https://jdmtackleheaven.com/collections/shimano-20-22-zodias/products/shimano-20-zodias-baitcasting-168l-bfs Anyone have any experience with this? When they say it's "1 piece + grip", I'm assuming that's a standard one piece? Or no?

Power BFS Rod Recs
I think that 1/8-3/8 is the sweet spot. I will check it out. Thanks!

Power BFS Rod Recs
That ML looks a little strong. I've got M powered rods with that rating that I power fish with. I'll do some digging on it though

Power BFS Rod Recs
Have heard good things about this rod, but have heard it fishes a little soft (like most Phenix rods). Beautiful rod though. I think if they came out with a ML I'd pick it up

Power BFS Rod Recs
What's everyone's favorite? I'm looking for a new one. I had been using a Fenwick Techna PX 6'10" ML that was a pretty solid rod but has now fallen apart on me. This will be more of a "power" bfs rod, will be throwing 5-8g. Don't want something too whippy. I really prefer the 6'8" - 6'10" range due to versatility but will look at anything up to 7' or so. Don't want to go less than 6'8". Would like to stay under ~$200. Let me hear whatcha got!

BFS just a trend
I did it just last week and caught lots of nice fish. First tried it about a year ago. It's perfect for sight fishing reds in the backs of creeks. Z-man salty Ned shrimp slays

Kistler Rods
Awesome, okay that's great to know. I appreciate the insight! I ended up ordering this rod the other day so will find out for myself soon enough. I'm excited to get my hands on it

Daiwa 21 Zillion SV TW 1000P
Is there one that does? I was thinking the other day I'd like to turn my SV into a semi bfs reel. Would like to be able to cast down to ~5g or so

Swim Jig Trailer swimbait trailer size questions
I have recently been using 5" paddletails on my swim jig but that isn't always the ticket due to size. Generally 3.5-4.5 is the sweet spot. 3" for finesse jigs

Daiwa 21 Zillion SV TW 1000P
Where can I find one of these? Does it work on a tatula sv?
-
Kistler Rods
Yes I think so too. Hooks were sharp. I was fishing braid but I have fished braid on all my reels for years and have caught tons of fish on this setup. I think honestly it was just a bad go of luck. Something strange with the bites, fish didn't have it fully in their mouth, etc. bc it doesn't make sense why I lost those fish. I too was thinking maybe I was popping too big of a hole but it was a tight pierce on the one I landed and the rest of the fish I caught on other rods. Going to continue using it and will figure out what the deal is

The model I'm referencing?

Daiwa 21 Zillion SV TW 1000P
Bantam easily. I own both and don't really like the zillion, but I am very much in the minority on that. The Bantam is absolutely perfect imo, I like it better than the metanium and the steez A2
