  1. Are we talking about the regular Shimano SLX? What do you think of the SLX XT and experiences compared to the regular SLX?
  2. What about the Shimano Caius? Any experience with it and how does it compare to the SLX?
  3. What makes the SLX MGL 70 different from the regular one?
  4. Would you say the Shimano SLX 150 is a good reel? One that you would recommend for the price? Also, what is the difference in the different models, like the MGL, XT, or the 150 A?
  5. I've used JB weld on rod guides wrap. It is not always consistent, sometimes to get good results you might have to be lucky. One rod I coated the ferrule wrap with JB weld epoxy and it turned out great, it was as perfect and smooth and hard as the real thing. Make sure to mix really well and thoroughly. Make sure you as equal amounts of hardener and resin as possible. Don't use heat and you will have longer working time. Bubbles is a side effect, a price to pay for longer working time. Use heat and it will set much too soon. Rotate the rod to level the epoxy while it cures. The warmer environment you do this in, the better.
  6. I have one. Would like to know how old are they are and their story. Like someone said, probably since the 1990s at the latest. I'm working on upgrading the guides on mine. Also restore the cork grips.
  7. A friend gave me a Gander Mountain Vortex baitcasting rod in 6 foot 6. GMVT66C-MH-13. Only problem is the guides don't feel good at all. It has metal inserts. I ran my fingernails on them and they are not slippery at all. I don't think the guides are even polished. But I like to do rodbuilding, so I may replace the guides and tip.
