Curado MGL Gear Issues
Will Shimano take in a reel that has been taken apart, cleaned, and serviced for warranty? Have anyone had any experience with shimano's warranty or servicing? And what are some costs that may come with this? I see that shimano have maintenance instructions on their website, so I think it may be fine to warranty a reel in this condition?

Curado MGL Gear Issues
The SLX series do not have micro module, and is not advertised as having one. I've seen both the gear on the curado and the slx. The curado have micro module. However in my opinion, I feel the gear teeth on the curado don't look that small or as fine. To me, the teeth size looks pretty standard. So I can see where you are getting at, thinking the SLX have micro module gears.

Curado MGL Gear Issues
It seems that many of the Shimano reels including the higher ends ones come equipped with micromodule gears, so we all don't have much choice. That's a possibility. The only thing I didn't do differently was to use a different grease.

Curado MGL Gear Issues
I never opened this one up or anything. I used it as is from the box. Even though I never opened it up or messed with it, the problems arose anyway.

Curado MGL Gear Issues
I have a Shimano Curado that I brought from American Legacy less than a year ago. I fished it as it is straight out from the box, didn't open it up or anything. It was a smooth and satisfactory reel. Not even after 6 month of use, it is starting to feel geary on retreive. When putting load on the reel like fishing swimbaits or spinnerbaits, it would have a humming or whirring feel. I then opened it up and did maintenance, cleaning the parts and adding oil or grease where needed. Also cleaned the gears and added fresh grease. I used the Shimano star drag grease for the gear. The maintenance did not fix the issue, and the problem worsened. The humming or whirring feel is very noticeable in the hand and "loud". Usually the culprit is the pinion bearings going bad. I replaced the bearings and that did not solve the problem. I'm sure it is the gears that is the problem. After the cleaning and maintenance, I had used it for another 2 trips and opened it again to redo the maintenance since there was no improvement. Already I found the gear grease getting discolored. I wiped it off with white tissue, and it is dark gray. It seemed like the gears is getting abraded or wearing out heavily, which may explain the discolored grease. I then redid the maintenance and grease and after a few more use, I get the same results with no improvements. I recall that the box was already opened when received from American Legacy, so maybe the reel was on a display and handled by customers in the store, which may caused the gear problems? Any input or advice is appreciated.

Snagged a lost rod and reel
There are some numbers stamped on the bottom of the reel foot. 81 5. I think that may be the year of manufacture, 1981. The reel have no bearings, only brass bushings for the spool and it have a anti reverse pawl. I think that's all i could describe.

Shim washers
Where are good places to get shim washers? Washers for anywhere in the reel such as for bearings or handle knobs.

Shimano FX handle knob
How to remove/disassemble shimano FX handle knob? I see a plastic cap but don't know how to get it out without damaging it. I believe the handle knob assembly is the same on the sienna. I know it is a cheap shimano reel, but I liked it and want to try to make improvements on it including replacing bushings with bearings. If I'm not wrong, I suspect there may be some bushings in the handle knob.

Snagged a lost rod and reel
I was bank fishing on a lake and had my lure stuck on something. I managed to bring it back and it came back with a rod and reel that was lost at the bottom of the lake. The rod was a old zebco, but the reel was a red Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000. I know about these reels and this must be a lucky find. I'm going to try to clean it up and get it working again. It must not have been there long, because I was able to clean the exterior easily. Anyone know what exact model Ambassadeur is this? I would like to k ow any information about this reel. *Seems like I can't post pictures, even 1 photo is too large to attach*

Cleaning AR Bearings
How do I clean out the anti reverse bearings from Shimano baitcasters? Since they have nylon components, the cleaning solution should be selected carefully. Such as brake cleaners, I figured it would be a bad idea, as I think it can melt the nylon part.

American Legacy Fishing Used Gear Trade In Program Shipping Concerns/Tips
I have tried to sell a Daiwa Tatula baitcaster reel that was in mint condition. It was never used and it was still in the original box and everything. They are normally sold for $160 to $180. They offerd me $50. I don't think I can accept a offer that is a 1/3 of retail price for a new condition reel.

Round baitcaster for catfish and big bass lures
I have searched around and discovered the Daiwa Millionaire Classic UTD. It comes in 250 and 300 sizes. I think it might be a better fit and is in within budget. I still have to decide between the 250 and 300 sizes. I was looking for a reel for my 8 foot medium heavy catfish rod. So I would use it for cats and if I feel like it, throw some A rigs on it.

Round baitcaster for catfish and big bass lures
I am looking for a round profile baitcaster that may be used for catfish, and also big lures like Alabama rigs or big swimbaits. Maybe 20 to 30 pound mono on it. I've been looking at the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur S in 6500 size. I haven't really decided yet, and would like to consider other options. Are there any other baitcasters that is similar to the Ambassadeur S?

Shimano SLX issues
It was not the Shimano slx. Different reel, and it got sorted out I suspected the gears was the issue. I have a brand new slx mgl in the same speed, and they uses the same gears. Swapping them made some improvements, but the problem will still persist in the original set of gears. Maybe I will look into the AR bearing as well.

Shimano SLX issues
I have a Shimano SLX XT HG that is making whirring noises. You can feel it when retrieving moving baits like spinnerbaits or swimbaits. This was happening after cleaning and regreasing/oiling. Even though it was relatively brand new, I had to disassemble and regrease gears and oil bearings because it accidentally got submerged in water. I took it apart and dried its components the same day. I tied to find the cause of this problem by swapping parts with a brand new shimano slx mgl. (The parts are mostly identical). Thr problem seemed to improve when swapping the gears, so the gears may be the problem causing the whirring feel. However I could not find any problems when inspecting the gears closely. Does anyone know he best way to fix this issue? Does it needs to be tuned and how to do that? I even completely cleaned the gears and all grease. I used dawn dish soap with water and a toothbrush to scrub the gears clean. Then regreased them with shimano drag grease.
