  1. Yeah I know haha, I figured it rained that morning so maybe it wouldn’t be so dusty. I was wrong.
  2. Today was our first time there, we drove down from Connecticut for a two week fishing trip. Seems like an interesting place. I’d assume the barbed wire and fence posts are long gone but I could be wrong. It’s interesting the lakes down here are like one big spot. Up north, you have a couple of features on lakes that count as spots haha. The first 5ish miles of the road has been rough paved, the rest of the road, I’d honestly say is in better shape than the road into headwaters a few days after it’s been graded.
  3. Thanks for all the info on the central Florida area everyone, we had a blast. The fishing with artificial seas a little slower than I thought it would be, however we got to fish some lakes that are unlike anything we have up north! (Toho, hatchineha, Kissimmee, headwaters, kenansville). That road to kenansville is rough but not crazy, then I saw the ramp haha. Anyways, thanks again for all the guidance, we appreciate it! I especially want to thank all the super friendly and helpful people down here. It’s rare you can chat someone up about how the fishing is going in CT without getting dirty looks, let alone someone towing you in from the American flag canal on headwaters when you break down. I made the mistake of not covering the boat heading into headwaters, but that was fixed with a good wash. If anyone is ever up in the CT area feel free to reach out for info!
  4. Last day of our trip from CT, we headed to Kenansville lake. Fishing was slow but we got a couple decent ones. It’s probably the steepest ramp I’ve ever seen, however the road in wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. We got this one on a 12” finesse worm.
  5. Tough fishing on headwaters today, but got a decent one. That was before the starting battery randomly went dead and had to get towed back from the Flag canal.
  6. Made the drive down from Connecticut the other day, spent some time on headwaters today. Didn’t catch anything to write home about, caught mostly on jigs and senkos. Dealt with trolling motor that wouldn’t start and then wouldn’t stop all day. All in all had 6 2ish lb fish. I’ve never seen so much vegetation in my life! Overall it was a good day on the water. We are planning to hit up Kissimmee tomorrow.
  7. Thank you for all the info, I appreciate it.
  8. I’m not gonna lie though, my lawn is looking pretty solid for January, 8” of snow and 11” of rain since November 15th lol.
  9. Yeah photo is from beginning of December. It’s been unseasonably warm, 8” of snow last weekend followed by upper 50’s all week.
  10. New truck to go with the boat. First ram, have owned lots of fords…. Got tired of all the electrical gremlins.
  11. Does he fish the Nebassin tournament division?
  12. Yeah I saw it looks like there’s a couple cold snaps next week. However it’s much better than the 28 degrees here right now lol.
  13. Sounds good to me…. It’s unfortunate, the state added a ton of grass carp to candlewood which has impacted fishing severely. There’s almost no grass in the place now. I heard someone pulled a 9 lb LM out of it this year, which is a monster for CT.
  14. Yeah I figure we are doing Tuesday Wednesday of next week, planning on arriving quite early. Don’t want to make the drive and be screwed lol.
  15. How early do you need to be at the ramp to get a parking spot? We haven’t been before but will be spending two weeks in Kissimmee starting Monday. We’d like to fish it at least a day or two. I’ve read it can be a tricky place to get into. Any info would be great, thanks!
  16. We only have green ones and brown ones lol. This one came out of lillinona a few weeks ago. does your buddy have a black kind? He looks familiar, we are in candlewood a lot. I think for New England winter has shifted a month late. Last year was warm also, and looking back at snow records it’s mostly late January and February now. April has been pretty darn cold the last few years also. we ride the Pittsburg ridge runners trails up in New Hampshire, they have been opening later and later every year. Candlewood is a small mouth factory now that the grass is gone. And theirs some big ones in there. I got a 5.1 earlier this year in about 50’ of water. We are taking the boat down to Florida for the next couple of weeks to fish the kissimee chain and headwaters, hopefully we can find some monsters. I’ve never fished outside of CT before so we are amped.
  17. Yeah it’s a place called Wethersfield cove, awesome place for numbers but not normally size. From the cove you can take folly brook out to the CT river. The mouth of the cove/brook is killer during the tide change, and generally that’s when the bigger fish come out. These were caught on 7” Ramsey Core shot Curl tail worms. These photos are not from recently, but you can see the bridge and the brook from the previous photos in the background. Pretty sure Wethersfield cove used to be a pirate hangout at some point in history.
  18. Ok, thanks, I sort of figured it was something like that.
  19. The water is still soft in Connecticut…
  20. I might be missing something but it looks like I can’t post a new topic in the flea market section. Did I miss something in the terms and conditions post?
  21. Nitro Z21XL I traded in for last year. Has been pretty awesome so far.
  22. Last trip out for the season at Candlewood Lake in CT.
  23. Do you guys think headwaters/stock marsh is worth the 1:45 drive? I’ve read some great stuff, and some tricky stuff with getting there early and the lot being full. Any must visit tackle shops in the area around Toho?
  24. ok sounds good! I have mega live on my boat, I will definitely reach out soon, thank you!
  25. Awesome thank you! I’ve never hired a guide before, so I’m looking forward to it. I’d assume with a guide your on their boat with their gear? Would a guide jump on our boat with our gear? Just curious. our water gets pretty “hard” up here in January, is fishing normally decent for you guys towards the end of January? thanks again.
