  1. I got started by seeing a neon green spinning combo with neon green line at Jamesway (now I know I'm old) and got it from Santa when I was young. Dad would take me occasionly but never fished but I became hooked. Still got that original reel which I plan on passing onto my future children (before I give em a Daiwa Steez so they appreciate it lol), but am currently trying to get my lil brother addicted.
  2. Hey guys with ice out approaching rapidly here in the north (thank goodness!) I'm wondering what are your top 3 cold water goto baits. I've been reading the articles here but I'm hoping you guys can narrow it down for me. I don't want to waste time throwing lures that don't work. I'm fiending catching not fishing ;D
  3. Topwater strike ftw. Aint nothing like watching a bass blowing up to take the bait. Landing it is nice too. ;D
  4. You have no idea how much I've been fiending getting out here in NJ. Joining my fishing club at Ramapo College has not helped One more (hah who am i kidding) 75$ splurge at tackle warehouse for some swimbaits and fresh line and I'm ready to rock for the season.
  5. You have no idea what i would give to catch one of those bass up here in NJ. Congrats!
  6. Imma have to go with any of those Storm 5$ soft swimbait types. I ended up buying a few bags of these cuz the colors matched the bluegills around here, and I don't think i could PAY bass to eat em lol.
  7. that thing is a MONSTER... Congrats!!
  8. I will definitely have a few out on the water, but me and my friends fish ponds and lakes that are small and only allow trolling motors so were not talking 4 foot swells and 60 mph bass boats flying around. I can't see a problem if your responsible about it (ie not getting plastered, being obnoxiously loud, and littering) Can't say I've ever had a bad time out on the water either, so if it ain't broke I'm not going to fix it ;D
  9. As an update to this story, I have the chance to purchase a one season old MH Gloomis GL2 for 100$ You guys think its worth saving the $ vs. a higher end Gloomis or St. Croix?
  10. I just bought this reel on Craigslist for 70$ and its def pretty smooth. Only thing I'm annoyed at is right now Tackle Warehouse has it on sale for 99$ brand new. Would've rathered spent the extra 30$ and gotten it new but oh well.
  11. Haha I'll take your word for it being useless. I would prefer to have the complete package kind of deal but I'll manage. Thanks anyway.
  12. Hey guys, I just purchased a Daiwa Viento baitcaster from a kid on Craigslist but unfortunately he didn't have the box or manual. I've looked all over the net but I can't find the owners manual, just a parts list. Anyone have a place online where I can download one? Thanks in advance
  13. Hey guys need some advice here. I'm getting into baitcasting this year and have settled on a 6'6" MH rod. I have a St. Croix Avid spinning rod and absolutely love it. So I'm deciding between the lower priced St. Croix's like the Bass Mojo for a 100$ or maybe a BPS Carbonlite. Is the St. Croix Avid or a similar GLoomis GL2 worth the extra 50-75? Funds are tight but it's not often I buy rods so somebody steer me in the right direction because I'm going nuts with all this ice (nothing else to do lol)
  14. I use that exact rod RW listed and I absolutely love it as well. It's actually my primary rod with a Daiwa Exceler 2500 because I'm a poor college kid fishing in NJ where the bass don't get huge lol. I'm planning on buying a 6'6" MH Avid casting rod because I love the spinning one so much and I need something to match to my brand new Daiwa Viento ;D
  15. that is absolutely SICK. Congratulations!!
  16. must be awesome hitting those on topwater! and i cant believe u rock fresh kicks like that out on the boat lol
  17. yea idk, never had luck there between me and my crew. we call it skunksville for good reason lol. i thought bass fishing was done for in northern nj but seems ive just been weak haha. Nice fish!
  18. yea imma have to agree, thats prob bigger than the state record out here in nj lol. nice catch buddy!
  19. Lol I might have to work on my composure because I definitely do get pretty heated over losing fish occasionally. This is partly my friends fault because when we fish we rip into each other ruthlessly (but with great jest though sometimes it doesn't feel that way ;D) I've also broken a rod by slamming it overhead into the water. Paid for that one though (and not just for the rod!!) because my buddy wouldn't drop me off after and I had to endure him fishing for a while afterwards lol.
  20. yea imma have to go to hell with the weight, cuz thats a hell of a fish! ;DCongrats!
  21. y u gotta call all of us suckas :? that bass is a monster though, congrats!
  22. that is freaking AWESOME... congratulation on that thing!
  23. now thats the way to calm down after bringing in a big bass like that, an angry whopper lol. congrats on the nice fish!
  24. that bass is EPIC, who wants to bet that lake will be overrun soon with tourists going for the 22.6 :
  25. did u weigh that thing? cuz it looks BIG 8-) congrats man!
