  1. Was going to go with the stradic c3000 because they are so cheap jdm and Ive already used the 4000 fl for trolling for stripers and blues.
  2. Would the avid inshore series St Croix work for that? I heard the tip is a little soft, but I love the St Croixs I already have now.
  3. I am fishing in RI in bays from a kayak or piers and docs. Was thinking a 3000 stradic or vanford with an odm dna 7’ or 7’6 inshore but I know nothing. What lb line is good? Also would it be able to be used off partyboats in NY?
  4. Was attempting to do a handle swap on my zillion. after some different approaches to undoing the nut on top of the handle, i finally got it to turn. when it was turning but not rising i finally realized that turning it clockwise made it rise. its a lefty retrieve. now there are some metal shavings loose but the shaft looks relatively intact and no discerning lines messed up to my untrained eye. Should i continue with the handle replacement or let the local tackle shop switch out the shaft? as long as just the nut is messed up, i am fine because the replacement handle came with one.
  5. Going to be traveling over the summer to hawaii. Since I’m going on a plane I need a 2 piece inshore casting rod. Preferably around 7 feet and under $200. Any suggestions? Paired with a 22 bantam btw.
  6. Bantam XG and St Croix Victory. The new st croix is going on my zillion and the bantam is going on a dobyns fury 734c
  7. The one time ive used it, it was horrible. I used 15# braid and I got a ton of wind knots, the line started fraying, and for some reason the thing had memory. Braid should not have memory.
  8. Whats the difference between the Metanium and the metanium 100? Its listed as two different things on digitaka.
  9. does anyone know how often they are restocked on digitaka or any other jdm import website?
  10. are they not two different models? The DC and the regular mgl?
  11. Currently have a daiwa zillion sv tw so trying to see the shimano reels. Ive heard a lot about how smooth they are and would like to see that for myself.
  12. The two reels I had in mind to pair with this rod are a Curado DC and a Bantam Mgl. Both would be XG for a swimbait/top water setup. Is the DC worth it for someone who knows how to cast a baitcaster?
  13. thanks for the feedback. It looks like you modded the drag star and handle. It looks sick. Is it slp works or gomexus?
  14. On a fishing kayak so basically just the spray of the salt. Sometimes on a jetty so again, salt water spray. Not dunking in the salt water or drenching it. But light exposure a few times a month.
  15. So it seems as though I am looking for a 21 Zillion Sv Tw. A few final questions. First does the finish chipping off bother you? Will this be salt resistant enough to withstand some salt like 3 times a month? Should I buy the JDM or USDM? (Leaning towards the JDM for smoothness, but I’ve heard that the brass was more durable) Any thoughts on the Zillion would be appreciated.
  16. are the centrifugal brakes easy to adjust on the water? will I be able to get parts or get repairs done on this if its jdm?
  17. I've been looking for a reel primarily for freshwater, mostly bass but the occasional salt water. I just want a reel that is durable and enough to be worth the money. I have looked at some of the DC reels like the curado, slx and scorpion but ive been wondering if I need the chip. I am unsure if the chip will restrict distance or if it is worth the price. I have also been looking at JDM reels like the SLX DC 71 but do not know how durable they are compared to the curados. It is a concern that there is no warranty and that they are not as easy to repair with parts. I am primarily a bank fisherman so I want to know if the 70 spool size will be enough. Is the I-DC-5 worth getting the JDM vs the I-DC-4? I am an intermediate baitcaster user so I am wondering if I need the DC to help reduce backlashes and also skip lures. (This is one of my weak points) The Tatula I have hard great things about especially when it comes to skipping, but I am concerned about the durability and how smooth it is compared to the Curado. I also do not want a reel that is only good for skipping. I will be pairing whatever reel I decide to get with a Dobyns Fury 734C which Ive heard runs light. I know its a lot so basically: Need a durable, somewhat salt resistant reel An all rounder Left retrieve Under $300 Are DC models worth it? Are JDM models a risky purchase? Are JDM models worth it? Is a 70 size spool enough to hold the amount of line that I need? Is the Curado MGL a good purchase or is the Tatula better? I fish mostly 3/8 ounce lures and above Senkos weighted and unweighted I am a intermediate level angler when it comes to baitcasters Any answers would be appreciated and I am open to suggestions on different reels.
  18. I was very excited for the release of the St Croix GXR Bass Systems Combos, specifically the frogging casting one. When browsing recently I noticed that there was no left side retrieve for the casting set. Does anyone know if there will be a left retrieve option or if there is one already out?
  19. i have had my daiwa tatula ct 100hs for less than a month now and after using it in heavy rain for 1 day. I also used it in salty conditions in a bay but washed it off straight after. Is there a chance that it rusted or something got in the gears? Ive checked the spool and side plate but im afraid to open the reel side plate for fear of losing pieces or not putting it back together correctly. Is it easy to take apart the plates and reassemble?
