  1. Which would you choose for 1/4oz Texas rigs and maybe some free rigging 1/4-3/8oz
  2. What do you guys prefer and why? Straight fluro or braid to fluro leader for: - Jigs - Chatterbaits - Cranks - Topwater
  3. Honestly I haven’t purchased a single rod at retail price. Usually wait until I have 20% or more off before I pull the trigger on any of them. Tons of good deals out there all the time just gotta keep an eye out! Took some time but happy I was able to get everything together for the power pitch, it’s my newest addition and 100% can handle 3/4 oz jigs. It’s rated up to 1.5oz. I just fish shallow water more often than not and rarely throw 3/4 but have no hesitation doing so when needed. Now I wouldn’t use it to throw into absolute slop/for punching but in moderate cover it excels and is one of the best jig rods I’ve found. It’s awesome around docks and bed fishing in the spring. Daiwa did an amazing job with this new Steez lineup and usually can find them close to $350 on second hand market
  4. Been debating this myself lately! And have come to the conclusion that I need about 6 casting rods and 2-3 spinning rods to feel fully covered on the waters I fish. Now I chose to go higher end models since I narrowed down my # of rods and am a bit addicted but concept of less is more remains true. 5. if you could only have 3 of these 4 rods, which 3 are you keeping and why? - NRX+ 842s - NRX+ 852s - NRX+ 872s - Steez AGS “The One"
  6. Have heard that too! Just personally enjoy rods under 7’3! I sold the 844 and picked up both the 854 and power pitch. Pumped to get them in!
  7. Great info - already have the zillion hd in my cart as that’s what I was planning to use!
  8. Every one I’ve talked to about the power pitch loves it and gives almost this exact same description. It’s extremely enticing, and think it’s probably my winner. Thanks! I’ll check out that major craft!
  9. Anyone have first hand experience/recommendations on a higher end grass jig rod? Mainly for flipping moderate cover along the bank and into patches of milfoil and pads. Also in spring time for flipping jigs and t rigs to beds. Pretty much always throwing 3/8-1/2 oz. Having the ability to handle some lighter frogging is a huge plus Currently own an NRX+ 873 for open water dragging which is phenomenal. Also have an NRX+ 844 which currently handles skipping and flipping docks (not sure yet if im gonna be trading this out for an 854). I’m lookin for something now in the grass/moderate cover. I’m currently between the Steez AGS power pitch, BC2, or p5 FMJ but always open to other options Any help/info is greatly appreciated!
  10. No I get where you’re coming from lol. Most of the upgrades are new and I haven’t gotten to put a lot of them out on the water yet. Got a really good deal on all the rods last month and haven’t paid more than $350-400 for each NRX+ and some of them for even less than that. Some of them I picked up knowing that I wouldn’t lose on them if I resell since I picked them up cheap. for the research part, I would consider posting this being just that. I don’t have access near me to hold any of these rods before buying which is why I’m inquiring about whether the 854/894 would be the right last piece to the puzzle or should I be looking for a heavier stick. I’m pretty confident in understanding which techniques my current rods will handle and have done a lot of research on them. But always open to hearing what others think might work better As for redundancy, only reason im trying to avoid is bc I’m limited on # of rods I can take out with me on the yak right now.
  11. ever tried the 854? Would it be the same thing just little shorter? Just personally like shorter rods for ease of transportation
  12. I have 4 on the 16” side and nothing on the 13” sides. Could prob at very least fit 1 more if not two. That’s something! so for the 894c, that’s a good pick for fishing moderate cover? Most likely using a 1/2 oz jig. Could the 854 handle that you think? I just personally prefer shorter rods to fit in my car
  13. I have the 16x13, figured trying to put 2 rod holders on the back latch side would cause issues but yours looks like it works just fine. You just installed same as the others? I have a pdl 120 so tankwell is pretty similar
  14. thanks brother. You’ve been super helpful on all my posts
  15. thanks this is good info. So if I pick up an 894 I could some days decide to leave the 873 at home and the 894 could pull all the 873 duties + some? Also ever tried using it for like kaera frogs? also how are you fitting 14 rods in the yak?! I have the blackpack pro and 8 tubes on it. Do you also put tubes on the sides that open the hatch?
  16. What’s up y’all. Back again…. Any rods here seem redundant? The windbuster is new. Gonna see how I like it vs the 872 and then prob sell whichever I prefer less. Thinking my next rod should be an NRX+ 894c, other issue is I can’t bring all of these on the yak with me each time out. Think 894 is the right pick or go a different route? Is it too similar to the 873? Looking to find something for jigs in cover and would love if it could handle some frogging duties in sparse grass as well. 17. Anyone try out the new orochi x10 swamp survivor? Seems like it might be exactly what I’m looking for
  18. Definitely agree! Haven’t pulled the trigger yet thankfully since the 7’3 XH is out of stock at my dealer… this is awesome info and I really appreciate it. To be honest I currently haven’t no interest in throwing big swim baits. Just not my style and too expensive for my taste right now. I’m more of a finesse guy anyway, even thinking about throwing into semi heavy cover spooks me a bit lol. That 7’4 Heavy I feel like is the better fit for me. Will help me start/get comfortable throwing some smaller sized A-rigs, handle my frog needs, and learn pitch/flip into some of the weedy covers I face here in NJ Yeah man that p5 wind buster is super intriguing and I’m really tempted to pick it up. I just haven’t gotten to use my 842/872 yet to see if I really need it or not. I mainly want it to just be a dedicated free rig rod, I have most of my other bases covered. But hoping the 842 can handle that and keep my 872 with a Shakey head on it most of the time
  19. have heard good things about that. THU tkl on yt put out a review saying bandersnatch is just a shorter version of the javelin so feel like it’ll be perfect for me
  20. I actually did some research and a bunch of people are loving the new orochi x10 bandersnatch and Omnia has a sweet sale on em right now so I picked that up. Apparently great for cranks, chatters, square bills and a lot of other reaction baits so gonna give it a go! Plus agree - like the cork handles bit more Yeah think I’m gonna go with the 7’3 XH. Think it’ll open up more in my lineup! Appreciate the insight!
  21. Crankbaits another one of those no confidence baits for me and that I’ve been putting off. Definitely on the list. Hear good things about that madbull
  22. I have a good deal on an 894 as well. Just feel like it’s a little too close to my 873, maybe slightly heavier application but wasn’t sure if it would really open up that heavy cover pitching/frogging duties like the Expride 7’3 XH or 7’4 H will
