  1. I have two, if I am fishing a bass tournament I always have a can of 3 bean salad on board. The first tournament I ever fished was a state Smallmouth Championship tournament and I did well so...... The second is I always on every body of water I have ever been on in this United States I throw a coin in this includes the Atlantic, Pacific, and the Gulf of America. I may be a little strange but I am willing to bet there are others.
  2. Back in the 70s I read where Anise oil was the "key" to catching fish. After searching through the yellow pages I found a bottle at the local drug store. Mission accomplished. I coated my (Rubber worms) a 70s term, and I coated a light coat on my hard lures and spinner bait skirts. Man it smelled great! Closed the lid on my tackle box and I was set. The weekend came and I went fishing. I opened the lid of my tackle box and my worms were melting, my spinner bait skirts were melted and stuck together, my hard baits were melting to the bottom of my tackle box. It even melted the trays of my tackle box. I knew right then it must be the wrong formula of anise oil.
  3. There is also world light line records. I had a friend in Minnesota that held several light line world records. The IGFA https://igfa.org/world-records/
  4. I use a line winding machine, I used to put a few drops on a rag and run my line through it as it went on my reel. I was really sold on it. I no longer use any kind of scent for Bass fishing. However if you believe in scent and it gives you more confidence I'm all for it. It's like using the best rod and reel your money can buy, It doesn't mean you will catch more fish but it gives you a lot more confidence.
  5. Never meet your Idols is not always true. I was fortunate enough to meet Al Lindner one time and we had a great time talking about the St. Croix river system. His wife actually got upset with us because Al didn't answer her fast enough and she said "What do I have to do to get your attention put walleye sent on me" LOL. He was open and honest and his love of fishing was contagious. I cannot say enough good about this man.
  6. In the 70s and 80s scent was huge. You had to have scented baits. Or bottles of scent so you could apply drops or spray so you could mask the human scent of L-serine. During this period, Yup I was a user I was addicted. Did it help me catch more fish well I'm not so sure. During the 80s I started reading about "Buck Perry" the father of structure fishing. He stated he would dip his spoon plug in gasoline and troll. He would catch fish with no problem with his lure smelling like gas. After reading this I was lucky enough to have two radio shows on fishing one in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin. I wanted to check this theory out so live on air I drilled a hole in the ice on White Bear lake, Minnesota. I dipped my ice ant and wax worm in the gas tank of my ice auger and found no difference between no gas on lure and gas on lure catching bluegill. How many times have you cast toward your target and the bass would explode at the lure the second it the water? I am a firm believer that most fish hit a lure do to movement or vibration not scent. And to go even further I watched a video of a guy that put a hook on a go pro camera and cast it until he caught a bass on it. I would have went one step further and smeared limburger cheese on it.
  7. Still have ice in my part of Wisconsin as of 2/27/2025. Word has it that the bass have heard of me and they are nervous.
  8. "You gonna skin that smoke wagon or just stand there and bleed"? A favorite movie line of mine. I have my 45 on me when I'm awake and by me when I am asleep.
  9. I used to be interested in Bassmasters but no longer. I'm not into video game fishing.
  10. I want to Bass fish in Cuba.
  11. LOL 😂 LPF stands for "Location, Presentation and Fish" if you don't have all 3 at the same time, well you know the outcome.
  12. "Don't much give a d**n for a man that spells a word only one way" Mark Twain 18 years later LMAO
  13. Hi Swamp Girl Yes it is a terminology from Al Lindner, In Fisherman Magazine early years. Can you tell me what LPF means?
  14. I love multi-directional wood covering on Mesotrophic lakes.
  15. Absolutely spot on. It takes more money than I have to run the circuit.
  16. I work on my Harley and walk around in an alcoholic fog most days.
  17. Hey Chicks dig poems, I was 7 deep when I tossed out that nugget.
  18. Dear Old Woman, you might be a looker, so here is a poem from a seasoned hooker. I fished off of sand I've fished off of docks I've fished from canoes but I'll tell you what rocks. Pulling canoes at 70 is fun with and ice cold beer in the summer sun. When I brought her off plane I checked to see if you were there But all I seen was a shaking old lady with messed up hair.
  19. To me there is no feeling in the world like setting in the middle of 100 bass boats anticipating the day while the sun is not yet rising. Pre-fishing you have selected your spots depending on wind direction and the forecast you decide what spot is first. As you ease off when your number is next you get past the boat in charge and turn her loose and for a second I look at the sky getting on plane and thank God for the opportunity to do what I do.
  20. United States Navy Viet Nam Era.
