How many carry while out in the boat?  Do you stow the weapon on water proof box, or actually carry while out there?

I didn't always, but recently I feel obligated. Just too many horror stories on the water and at the ramp(s).

It's taxing to live in fear, but I'd rather be prepared.

I don't carry on the lake I live on because it's against the law and I never felt threatened. I do on other lakes because I always have a gun in my truck and I don't leave an unattended weapon at the launch.

I advise you to check with law enforcement in your area first. Some waters are federal and you can get in serious trouble for carrying in some areas.

I do when I remember to think about it. I put it in a easily accessible compartment

I own a wide variety of shotguns, rifles and a few handguns.

They are only used for hunting, benchrest, trap or skeet,

I never tote any firearm on my person (cannot be bothered).

I do for remote lakes or the occasional water body in higher crime areas.

I never do on my home lake since its private. In the boat I keep it in at arms reach. Its usually on me as I load.

I really hope and pray I never have to use it.

Oddly I don't carry in my boat but do when I'm wading in the river. I've encountered too many four-legged and two-legged animals not to be prepared. I learn from my mistakes.

I always have one on me and have one in a compartment on the boat as well.  The wife always has one her as well.

I carry while I mow the yard  Of course I carry while I'm in the boat. Not only because of all the crazy people out there, but because of my occupation.

I carry mine because I'm not going to leave mine in my truck. I have a  Tn. carry permit.

School teacher ? :P

I don't have a boat, but I always carry while I'm out of the house, especially if I'm going somewhere away from civilization where it will take a few days to find my body

If I'm going somewhere I feel like I "need" to carry...I don't go 'cause fish ain't worth it. That said, more power to you if you feel like you need it, but if it's anywhere but on your person it's not going to do you much good.

VolFan I don't ever expect to need a handgun anywhere I go. I carry one anyway. While I have never needed one, needing one and not having one available is not a good option. If you spend much time on the water you know that trouble can find you in any location. Night fishing and remote locations increase the chances. I carry a gun much like a wallet; I may not need it, but have it just in case.

For the record, I am not suggesting you or anyone else carry a gun. That is a right you can excercise, or not, at your choosing.
