I carry while I mow the yard  Of course I carry while I'm in the boat. Not only because of all the crazy people out there, but because of my occupation.

  • The huge number of people being shot killed in the US are being slaughtered by people they know or, as a direct result of some type of criminal activity they are involved with.    @A-Jay tou

I never go anywhere thinking I will need my gun, just as I can't remember ever consciously thinking *today is the day I will need my seat belt*.

You're right it's insurance whether it's a gun, seat belt, etc. The only way it serves as insurance is if one has the belt on, or the firearm on them when it's needed.

thats right. lots of risks in life. we roll dice every day. i find the risk of death when driving w/o seatbelt high over the course of 50+ yrs driving in ones lifetime.

sorry to derail, just wanted to put a different opinion up. i wish everyone who carried was a responsible gun owner.

lets see some more pics.

...I don't care if a mentally stable and sober fisherman is carrying. I just choose not to.

Fair enough.

Yes when in my kayak or in a deer stand I got a S & W MP9 on my hip.  In a bass boat not always, there is a decent chance I will be having a barley pop or two while I am in the boat, and always with another guy or two.

My land is pretty remote, but a fair # of folks passing through the area, and places I fish from my kayak are often pretty remote.

Taurus Judge on the boat.

000 buckshot works well on snakes here in the south and also on 2 legged snakes in the south. North too!

That is the only time I carry a Judge besides in my garage.

I have my .40 with me and a 16 gauge shotgun.

I always carry my .40 for self defense but i carry the 16 gauge for snakes and to shoot branches out of tress to get my lure back when the dummy behind the reel cast it into the tree.

Been checked by the wardens several times, still makes me lmfao every time they roll up they grab their sidearms when they see mine.

Out of respect for others I don't bring the guns when I take someone with me or when I go with others in their boat.

Rugger ACP In the truck all the time except when I am not in the truck :D

Yes, I also have a CC and carry. Usually out on the boat it'll be something a little bigger tucked away in a compartment

I'm a bank beater for the most part, and I fish mostly at night. I always carry my Ruger LCR .357. During the day, not so much, but I fish a lot of neighborhood ponds in nice areas.

If I'm not at work, I've got one on me. When I bank or creek fish, I carry my G20 10mm in a shoulder holster due to the extreme possibility of running into a grizzly or other big 4 legged beast.

Glock 19, extra mag. Worn at all times, especially when fishing.

living in the no so great state of IL its pointless to carry on a boat, you can not carry at state parks or park waters unless its hunting season. I wish you could carry.  The only time I feel like I should is camping, most of my camping is later in the year on week days and the camp grounds are empty and 90% of them never lock the gate, its the perfect time to commit at crime. ( from what I was told, you can use the Castle Law but if the ranger or SP differ your going to jail till you fight it in court and could loose with a fellony and Id loose my job). Plus 150$ to CCW in Il is a rip off. For work I had to take the class for free but it was my choice to get it, the also have me the opportunity for Utah and I did for 25$.  Time for reciprocity in all states, one fee!!! Or better yet open carry

Firefish there are many places to fish in Illinois where it is perfectly legal to to carry. Your Utah permit is worthless in Illinois. Not getting your Illinois CCL because you don't like some of the limitations seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

$30 a year for an Illinois CCL is less than the cost of one fishing trip. I would no more fish without a firearm than I would without a PFD.

I don't have a boat, nor do I generally carry for self defense while bass fishing, however when catfishing on the river at night, absolutely, and so do 90% of my friends. I've been out with 8 people and seen 8 handguns on their hips with a shotgun in everyone's truck except for Dave. Dave's got an AR-15 and he likes to show off.  On another note, I do have a fishing gun. A few of my favorite places up near the camp have a few too many snakes for my liking, so I bring the Heritage Rough Rider .22 LR/Mag I bought years ago for farm varmints. There's also a little hollow where I always go shooting right off of a hole that always holds trout so it's a 2 birds one stone sort of thing.

If it is not on me it is in my bag.

NH just passed a law that we do not need a CC permit as the background check at the point of sale is the same as a local chief calling it in

I also work in a gun free zone, and administration just uses "don't ask, don't tell" as most want the experienced employees to carry

If I'm going somewhere I feel like I "need" to carry...I don't go 'cause fish ain't worth it. That said, more power to you if you feel like you need it, but if it's anywhere but on your person it's not going to do you much good.

I don't think or "feel" my house is going to burn down either but I have a fire extinguisher just in case.

I never thought about this subject until a lady around here got attacked by a rabid Coyote. She had to jump into a feeder canal to escape. I have been more wary when unloading my kayak in the early morning hours at an empty boat launch.

My Kershaw or pepper spray ain't gonna stop a rabid Coyote. Wish I could carry but NY gun laws are oppressive.

Have you checked out some of the CO2 powered options? A lot of truckers carry 50 state legal hopped up single shot blowguns that are downright wicked.

Since I carry 99% of the time, there is a great change it's in my bag while on the boat.

Always in the boat unless I’m in a tourney where firearms in boat are against the rules.
