I'm struggling with learning to become competent at pitching. I understand the concept and have watched some guys doing it effectively but I'm still having problems getting the timing down. So... I have a couple of questions. 1. What type of gear is the easiest to use for pitching? I have a bunch of possible combo's from very light on up to flipping and swimbait type tackle. 2. How far is good enough? Assuming decent accuracy and not too many backlashes, how far do I need to be able to "pitch" the bait? Thanks in advance for your help!
  2. Thanks for the information. I'm going to give this a try!
  3. Gentlemen, I have a number of old wooden Bomber lures that have serious problems with their condition, particularly with paint loss. In the past I have had excellent success using these baits but now the decent ones are becoming collectable. I would like to refurbish some clunkers. Now comes my problem. I do not have any knowledge or experience doing this type work. I see the beautiful work that members of this board are doing painting there new creations and I'm thinking I could at least make these old lures look better than they do now! So... where do I find information about how to do this? I need to know techniques for removing the remaining old paint and for applying new paint. I also need to know what kind of equipment is required to do this. Thanks very much!
  4. I have had good results using a long leader with braid on spinning equipment. I use enough leader to lay a few wraps on the reel spool when the rod is rigged and the bait attached, usually something around 20 feet of leader.
  5. I've been using an old Bantam off and on for many years. It's still going strong!
  6. Take another look. I think that is a set of four rods, not just one.
  7. We have discussed rods for flipping and pitching but not much has been said about reels for this. I know the requirements aren't too much for flipping but pitching does involve the reel in actually casting. I use 20-25 pound mono and 30-40 pound braid for this. Any reel suggestions?
  8. Robert, who is doing the anodizing for you?
