  1. Really struggling with finding a knot that will hold and somewhat easy. Using 15# braid and connecting a 10# flouro for leader using the Yucatán knot. If I wrap it 10x it cinches up nice but will not hold. If I wrap it 14-15x it holds but looks like a rats nest. Been trying last 2 evenings tying 5-6 knots before getting frustrated.. Suggestions on a knot a 62 blind guy with fumble fingers can have success? What works for you guys?
  2. Thank you gim.. yes, the conditions yesterday were less than desirable for human habitat, though it was pretty bizarre watching this wildfire smoke roll in. It was like watching a fog bank rolling on top of you.
  3. So me and the kid hit the local waters around Zimmtucky today (because she has weds off and wants to go fishing with dad). OAT was 94* by time we left water at 1030 Water temp was 85.8* at 0615 and 87.1* by time we left.. Not a dang bite. Tried weed edge out to 18’, nada.. kid wacky wormed and I threw a Texas rig.. zilcharoonie! What else could I have tried.?. this bass thing is new to me… Like gim says, should prob wait for cooler wx.. Rod
  4. Trying to post a pic to match my post of time on water with daughter.. First time for everything and this is my first LM in 20 yrs..
  5. Youngest daughter and I made time to get out to some local NW Metro spots. Had a fantastic time and boated 12.
  6. Beautiful Fish @gim
  7. gim…. We in same club for once. I sucked so bad on Sunday I got depressed. Wind made boat control a challenge I failed. Struggled with my new Curado, got a minor backlash that turned into solid snag and buried the line in the spool, but I caught a fair amount of coontail…. Yup, I sucked.. 😩

  9. So much to learn from you guys and looking fwds to it. First I gotta figure out how to resize a pic on my IPad so I can post one so you see what kind of yahoo your “chatting” width. In 50 yrs of fishing never paid any attention to bass and after that first SM I caught up on Mille Lacs 2 wks ago, they have my attention. Looking to take advantage of all the lakes near me for quick trips to learn LM. I live in Zimmerman and aim to go flog away soon. All I really know and have gear for is walleye and Muskie, gave my salmon stuff away. So thanks in advance. Rod in Zimm
  10. I don’t own a smaller casting reel specifically designed for casting lighter tackle such as a curator or bantam (I do have several Tranx for musky 😁), I currently have several Abu C4’s I use for bottom bouncing wallys and have tried using them for casting 1/2oz lures with about a 75% success. They are spooled with 20# braid. I really have to ride the thumb to avoid backlash (have adjusted spool tension numerous times with no real difference). I am wondering if I would benefit from a real dedicated casting reel like a curado or bantam (Shimano fan) or is it my technique and I just need more practice? (No prob casting 2 - 3 oz musky lures on my Tranx) Any positive comments encouraged & welcome 🤗 Rod in Zimm
