@Swamp Girl One tip with senkos I’ve found, and maybe it’s just because I fish current a lot, but a senko rigged weedless wacky sinks quicker than a senko rigged Texas style weedles. I prefer Texas because it goes through weeds way better and I have more control over the bait. Wacky seems to get down quick and I’m having to consistently pop off bottom to drift a little more. I will say, there’s something entertaining about a weightless senko bite…not sure what lol

Fished before the weekend clown show and had a good, solid day for a change. Didn’t set the world on fire, but just about hit double digits from the bank. Only one dink today, and only one miscue…on a monster of course. Man I’m still going over that; us shore guys don’t get too many chances like that. Good thing is she did come back after, looked at my worm hard again and never did spook, so I should have a chance down the line Got a few on power worms, but Texas rigged senkos fished weightless were good. With the high, flooded water, that was a good way to fish with limited mobility. I prefer to fish senko style baits on my spinning rods, and the MH put it to them well today. Haven’t fished jigs as much as I wanted give them a break, but I did get a halfway decent smallie on a jig for the road. Fish were overall decent today and nothing I didn’t mind catching

Definitely go with MH power for sure, that’s super versatile. I love my MH and use it most. It’s caught more bass than the rest of my rods combined I’d bet

When you think about it, we as humans fish paranoid. So worried about failure that it consumes our souls to the point of over worrying and overthinking I’m just a bank fisherman, but even I can have this type of thing happen. There’s a reason my backpack weighs 12-15lbs. However, I also feel the need to have variety due to limited mobility. I typically carry 2 rods and will take three if I’m parked close by or can sit and play around in a good spot for awhile. If I’m run and gun; my bag and MH casting rod in seek and destroy mode If you’re worried about deck clutter; strip it down and force your discipline and confidence. Even though I know I’m far from a good fisherman or any kind of best…you wouldn’t know that if you could get in my head lol

Good fishin’ Swamp Girl. You’re more passionate with fishing than a typical woman which is pretty cool to us boys. How is your forage situation in your bogs/ponds? Many of your bass seem lean and going into August they should be starting to add now instead of just regain. Just an observation as I too had lean bass into July, but they’ve mostly started fattening now. Either way, keep getting it done Lady

I’m not a guy that’s gonna handcuff himself to one bait or tactic, I love variety in my life. Even when jigs were literally all I needed in June, I still fished other things because I’m just not a tethered angler. Paddle tails and big smallmouth were the start of the season in late April. I’ve since adjusted and transitioned as needed. I’m mostly catching greenies, and currently my top three baits have been 1. skirted casting jig in 3/16oz 2.t-rigged creature bait 3/16oz 3.t-rigged power worm 3/16oz I’ve started my big worm game and will stay with that through August because the fish responded surprisingly well to a 10” thumper worm in bright sun the other day, so I’m now real interested in this bite. I don’t have much interest in top water, chatterbaits, swim jigs etc. I don’t fish a ned rig, but do run stick worms various ways if needed

Fishing period is mostly mental. Having either black or black/blue and a pumpkinish natural color is seriously all you need for jig fishing. I’m talking casting jigs though, as I’m not much into swim jigs. Black, blue, or purple, GP and orange for trailers. This year, overall, a basic combo of black/blue jig with black trailer and pumpkin green with a gp trailer has accounted for a good 75-80% of my bass and most of my best fish. I caught the biggest smallmouth I’ve ever got on a skirted bass jig during prespawn this spring and my biggest largemouth this season so far. Jigs just work for me and catch bigger bass overall
