Show off your Stuff
Some of the gear I use in South America. In the first photo, you can see the reels I use for peacock bass and payara (vampire fish). They are all Shimano reels, and all of them have a gear ratio above 8:1. There are two Curado K, one Curado DC, one Bantam MGL, one Tranx, and one SLX DC. In the second photo, you can see two reels that I lend to my friends or clients: a Shimano Curado E and a Shimano Curado D, both with a 7:1 gear ratio. In the last photo is my Calcutta Conquest 301, which I use for arapaima fishing.

Whats Europe's most popular sport fish?
As a European born in Spain, I'd like to give my opinion on the most popular sport fish in several European countries. First of all, it is important to distinguish predatory fish from cyprinids such as carp or barbel, even though in some places these species have developed predatory feeding habits. I will also provide a Top 2 or Top 3 ranking for each country, with the first species being the most popular. Spain Black bass Pike Zander Portugal Black bass Pike France (Black bass is probably the most appreciated species, but it is not the most popular because it is not widespread throughout the country and is found mainly in southern France). Pike Perch and zander (equally popular) Black bass Switzerland (not part of the European Union, but located in the heart of Europe) Pike Germany Pike Zander Perch Italy Black bass Pike

As you said, Spain is a wonderful country. I really miss the food. Spanish cuisine is amazing. There are so many traditional dishes. Food in Colombia is generally simpler, but at least it's very healthy. Do you know why I'm in Colombia? Because of fishing 😂😂 fishing is my job too (I offer fishing trips), and Colombia is a dream with the peacock bass and the parayaras (vampire fish) among many other species.

Hi Rucksack, sorry for my late answer, but I had forum problems. You can find black all around Spain. Best Spain communities for it are Extremadura and Andalucia. My biggest was a 7.5 lb so more than a 3 kg that is the magic barrier to overcome. The good anglers always are looking for fish over 2 kg, because the 3 kg isn't easy and off course there are less. We have nothern bass, we don't have floridanus or hybrid black bass. To catch them we use in Spain differents techniques such as wacky, jig (craw), shacky jighead, swimbait, neko rig, etc with all kind of hard lures of soft lures.

Hi everybody, my name is Pablo. I'm Spanish and currently living in Colombia. I’ve been fishing since I was 10 years old, with a break between the ages of 16 and 22. I became a professional fishing guide in 2010. I’ve guided for eight and a half seasons targeting black bass (largemouth bass) and pike in Spain. Since 2017, I’ve been working in Colombia and other countries as well, often organizing trips for peacock bass. Fishing is my lif, I need to be close to the water. When I was working in Spain, I spent more than 200 days a year on the water. Now I have a family, but I still spend at least 100 days a year on the water. Glad to be here and looking forward to learning more about this awesome sport.
