  1. We have an Academy and a new Gander Mountain plus 4 walmart supercenters here. I love capitalism!!! Academy was selly Rat-l-traps for $2.99 each until Gander opened up. Now Academy dropped their price to $1.87, man what a hell of a deal. But was in Gander saturday, they dropped their price to $1.86!!!!!!!! Like I said before, I love capitalism!!!!! ;D
  2. Wacky rig it, theyll eat it up!!!!!!!!
  3. Just finished watching Mike act like a kid who has ADD on ESPN! I think he's a great fisherman and has personality. Seems like nice guy and brings excitement to the sport, though the yelling sometimes gets on my nerves.
  4. I would save my money and buy a nice used fiberglass boat. I have an aluminum boat now and Im ready to upgrade to fiberglass first chance I get. In this part of the country theres alway a breeze blowing. That makes it tough to stay on the fish with an aluminum boat. Plus they are not as smooth riding as glass boats. One thing nice about aluminum, you can take into the jungle without worrying so much about scratching the boat. ;D
  5. Has anyone ever bought a boat off of Ebay? And if you have or know someone that has please give the details?
  6. I like the Uni-Knot but I go through the eye twice before I start wrapping. Very strong knot for mono or splicing lines together such as mono to mono or mono to braid. Do Not Use this knot on braid alone it will slip. Use only Palomar for braided lines. ;D
  7. Basically I use the three primary colors for spinnerbaits and buzz baits. Chartruese, WHite, and black. For crankbaits shad, bluegill, and perch colors. Plastics I like watermelon, pumpkin, and purple/black colors. Sometimes a person can make things complex when they dont need to in fishing. Im not saying to only use these colors, but its a start. Start with a few different types of lures and build up. ;)My number one confidence bait is a white spinnerbait so I usually dont buy every color of spinnerbait there is out there.
  8. Dangit! Why make big things out of small things. :-/ So a channel is basically a ditch!
  9. That was helpful ernel, Im just learning how to use a sonar also. Man I love this site! ;D
  10. Thanks! ;D THe lake that I normally fish doesnt have a detail map of the depth changes, humps, channels, points, etc. Is there any way to tell just by looking at a shoreline which areas are productive water i.e points. BY the way what is a creek or river channel. Is a creek channel the middle of a creek arm on bottom. I always here about fishing creek channels but really dont know how to find them.
  11. ;DThanks for all the responses.
  12. I always throw them back, big or little. Hard to beat fried catfish, the ultimate is Smoked Salmon. I'll eat crappie and walleye also.
  13. Okay. So fish it whether you mark fish or not. Didnt know that.
  14. Any tips on fishing for deep structure fish,i.e spoon jigging or deep cranking or carolina rigging. I'm pretty much a shallow fisherman. I seem to have a hard time finding fish other than shallow cover. ???
  15. Opinions apreciated. I currently fish a 16ft DeepV Alum. Boat with 67lb thrust troller. I thinking of upgrading to a fiberglass bass boat such as Ranger, Triton, Skeeter, or Stratos. I mainly fish reservoirs in windy conditions(15-25mph) are common. My question is do F/G Bass boats handle wind better. Ive noticed F/G bass boats look more stable and dont look like their blown around so easily like my alum. boat. I do alot bass fishing but also Walleye fishing. I prefer not to anchor when jigging for walleyes, but I want to drift slowly over structure and work my jig slowly. Can this be done with a 18 to 19ft bass boat without an anchor. Also are they smoother riding.
