Walmart vs. Dick's

Dicks has a better selection of "QUALITY "merchandise. wal-mart probally has more "STUFF" though. I personally try to deal with anyone but walmart, since walmart put a few superstores in my area it has really hurt our local tackle shops and gun shops.I try to support locals first,if they dont have it then I go wherever I have to.

I only buy at WalMart if it is a last minute item or something I know they carry.  Our WalMart is getting worse every year as far as selection.  Lots of worms and flukes but no cranks and very little spinner baits.  I went to a Dicks in CT last year and they had a better selection than my WalMart so I would go with Dicks.

Don't do Dick or Wal-Mart.. We are lucky enough to have a couple of real tackle shops close by. Privately owned shops have better service and a better selection. If you want something they will get it for you. Try that Wal-Mart. They have no idea what you are talking about.

Walmart around here in Hays, Kansas, because it is usually cheaper and the closest Dick's is in Topeka and thats about a 4 hour drive. I do order alot of stuff from Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas though.

I try to do buisness with the local guys first. And most will break their backs to return the favor. Wal-Mart has 3 stores in this town and I think the same guy picks the stock for all stores. It is the same thing just different package. It's a wonderland if you don't have much, and I don't have that much, myself but lately I felt like there were a few things they could buy from me. It appears like it has gotten worse over the winter. So they may start to stock back up. Acadamy is located about 35 mi. away they have a good selection. Bass pro is about 70. I was looking through the B.A.S.S. awhile back and I think there were 3 or 4 in the top something on the tour from this area and we just keep looseing boat dealers and tackle shops. Could it be all the really good customers are just out of town? Ohhh the shame.

Depends on which Dick's store. The one 20 min. form me sux; the one 35 min. away is well stocked and the prices fair. Walmart has clearance sales that are amazing! (rod/reel combos for $15); soft plastics for $.10 a bag; Trilene line for a dollar a spool.)

Other than that, same ol boring stuff and poor variety.

My local tackle shop, 4 minutes away, has double the variety of either store (and except Gander Mt.), but is pricey.

I live in Jax Florida and the Dicks selection is WAY better but over priced a bit. Wal Mart is great for late night purchases but the one on San Jose selection is getting worse.

Wow!  Never thought about the fact that neither Dick's nor Walmart were within 300 miles.  I have no BPS or Cabela's within hours, but lucky enough to have both Walmart(cheaper but less selection) and Dick's(better selection more expensive) close by to home.  Boy do I feel lucky!
