  1. The Prodigy reels are such a scorching deal on sale, I can never resist. Bought another caster already and will likely pick up another spinning soon. Can't beat these reels at sale price!!
  2. Just about all of it for me. Probably 76-100%. If I need it, I just buy it.
  3. GMAN's Poison Tail (or whatever it's called now) weight varies, usually 1/2 oz though. Black w/green flake skirt Producto Craw... Junebug w/blue claws.
  4. I could understand the use of a ML power stick for ultra fine wire hooks in open water conditions but could never go that light where heavy cover is close by, and where I fish thats typically the norm. A ML, for me, makes for a good panfish stick but would be the wrong choice for 2+ lb bass. However, I witnessed my 8 yr old son (then 7) haul in a 17" smallie on steroids with his 5'6" UL last year so maybe I need to reconsider.
  5. What I've noticed to be my biggest issues is baits that spin when brought in fast at end of retrieve for next cast. Fin S Fish, Slider heads, tubes and the like will twist line if not careful. It's not the fault of the equpiment used and the way I see it, no way around it if you fish in a hurry. Closing bail by hand does seem to help a bit but in my case is no cure-all. I get "twist" (nothing real severe) but just accept it as part of the game and live with it.
  6. While the Premier is a decent stick, for the price, the Shimano Compre is better IMO. If it weren't for the guide problems many seem to have (I haven't had these problems) I wouldn't hesitate to label my Premiers as the toughest, most durable rods I've owned. They can certainly handle absurd amounts of abuse/neglect and I've never heard about anyone breaking them. If you can find what you need in the Cabela's Fish Eagle II series, these will match any performance aspect of a Premier and save you about $30+. My single biggest gripe with my Premiers is the balance (on casting models) is too tip heavy.
  7. LOL....I have an old Norrmark scale that's a bit "light" too, at least 1/4 lb if not more. I also think my ultra precision "tournament board" measures a bit short too.
  8. www.classicbass.com/2010sched.htm Try that. Most tournaments are listed there. Also, the MN B.A.S.S. Federation can be a great source of info http://www.mnbfn.org/
  9. 1/16 or 1/8 oz Snagless Slider and 4" Producto Tournament worms for me. I use a lot of different finesse techniques but this one is my favorite.
  10. I've lost one combo by accident and one reel on purpose. The combo was just a zebco 202 and some cheap fiberglass rod when I was 5-6 yrs old. The reel was a 2 week old ABU Ultra Mag XL that had been giving me a lot of problems, got mad, took it off and threw it in the lake. Problem solved, bought another Shimano a few days later to replace it. ;D
  11. Listen to Catt! The Crucials are darn good rods for the money!
  12. I hate to see this reel forgotten. It is my favorite for workin' the jungle. Very smooth reel!
  13. I am finding that I really like the 6'3" length for spinning rods. Just feels more controllable to me than common 6'6" rods.

Not only the best looking, but they were the most fish catching-est cranks I used last year!! Just incredible!

Exactly what I need....small 4-5 ft'ers. I guess I'll have to put in another order
  16. I go 50lbs, easy. Likely a good bit more than that.
  17. Berkley Cross Loks are definitely King!!
  18. My favorite is a local independant, Capra's Sporting Goods. Best in the area for my needs. Another, Thorne Bros, is also excellent. Otherwise I like Cabelas and have one right on the way home from work I visit regularly. No BPS around here and until there is, won't buy from them.
  19. I have one of these, bought it new off the shelf 2-3 yrs ago(must have been hanging there awhile)!. Am I wrong to notice more difference in the body roll than depth when changing line tie position? I haven't used it much and have yet to catch a decent fish on it, maybe next year!
  20. Sounds like crap to me. Where I live, everything is barcoded and if you pick LC's off the eagle claw rack you'll still pay the LC price.
  21. Best way to find out, get a casting rig and give it a go. I stick with spinning for most all my light tackle presentations and always will. When you have to question yourself, it's time to experiment and see if it works better for you, if not, hey....you gave it a fair shot. If it does, then you just improved your game.
  22. Just to turn the subject a tad.....What kind of problems have you guys had with wood baits?
  23. Well Roger, the dictionary will prove you correct. It is possible to "finesse" a crankbait through brush, a 1/2 oz jig over rock. or 3/4 oz spinnerbait through reeds etc Light line, small lures and sissy sticks for deft presentations in clear water have just become the stereotype over the years I guess.
  24. Same here, no exceptions. Even my favorite deep crankin rod is graphite (7' MH/F) No way would I go back to glass.
  25. Yeah, you have to watch them. When they advertise 50% off the clearance bins you'll get a deal, otherwise forget it. I won't buy anything there, at anytime, unless it's on sale. Their everyday prices are high.
