Who would you want to fish with???
I never met anyone on the list...but from watching tv I would have to say Ike would be my first. It seems as though even if you were not catching any fish, you would still have fun. I think every sport needs a guy like him. He adds color and he is also very passionate about fishing.

Bass Scars
I was thinking the same thing. A few years back I caught an Atlantic Salmon with what looked like a bullet hole in it. Turns out it was from a Lamphrey Eel.

Greetings from Rhode Island
Hey Low Budget.... I live just north of you in Massachusetts. I also have fished Stellwagen bank though I have never had the success you have had there. Brought in some huge cod,Mako's and fly fished there for stripers and blues. Its a strange place....out in the middle of nowhere then all of a sudden bait fish everywhere, what a blast. Welcome to the site!

Senko technique
I am beginning to love my Senko collection..... It did take me a good couple of weeks to figure them out. Someone here posted something that basically said you cant fish them too slow....and thats dead on! I am mostly use the Pumpkinseed and Black/Chartreuse Tail... Though I did give a natural/green a shot the other day and had a few decent fish. I fish them Texas style with a 5mm rattle using the style described that JT Bagwell uses. I use 4/0 Gamakatsu Red hook. I think the clicking triggers reaction strikes. I also found some success just stripping the line slowly as if I were useing a flyrod. Its true they do cost more than anyother softbait out there but it inspires confidence in me because of what I have seen. I feel that every time I cast a Senko I am going to get a fish.....I'll pay for that!

What comes around...goes around!
I am new to this site so I am not really sure where to put it. Its a little OT from the norm. My father taught me how to fish ,as many of you here I am also sure learned from your Dads. We started fishing when I was 4...and he always said.."the first day I took you fishing was the last day of his fishing career and his best day on the water". He always says it with a smile. What he meant was he spent a lot of time teaching, tying, taking the fish off and trying to get the lures out of the trees. Heres where the topic title "What comes around goes around" comes from. 29 years later My Dad is a healthy 64 year old man, though his eyes are not as good as they used to be. So he relies on me to tie the knots. He loves to use very light tackle, nothing bigger than a lightweight rod and 4lb test. Anything bigger he says is cheating(I cheat). We were fishing a great bass pond in my area the other day and we were doing pretty good. My father managed many times to land some pretty big fish and usually would make me re-tie the knot just in case,so needless to say I was tying Palomars all day. I must have tied 40 knots that day. It was the least amount of fishing I have done in some time and it was also my lowest creel count that i can remember.....But it was my best day fishing in 29 years.

On Board Chargers??
I just picked up one of these for my batteries. Works great, and for the price it cant be beat. Its a conditioner so all you need to do is plug it in when you get back from the lake and its charges, then maintains until you use it next. The batteries will be fresh whether it cahrges for one day or sits for over a week. http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cgi?prod_id=38857¤t_category=minn%20kota%20battery%20charger&session_id=481230288&cart_id=082337868

where do you come from
Little more than where I am from.... Born and Bred here in Massachusetts. I live in Milford now, its a small(ish) town about 40 mins from Boston. I make my living as a firefighter and have a 10 month old son...who cant wait to go fishing. I have been fishing all my life but was never really serious until the last year after my son was born. My hobbies up to that point were not the safest and really inspired me to pursue fishing. Since then it has become a passion. My main interest is Bass fishing but I also like to Flyfish for Trout in some local streams and rivers.

Are shiners a taboo subject???
I dont think it should be a taboo subject at all. Personally I dont think its as fun as using artificial baits, but sometimes thats all that will work. In the past I have made mistakes with the size shiners I have used. I found that I was shortchanging myself by getting 3-4 inch shiners. Well, I was schooled one time by a veteran Bass fisherman who told me(please correct me if this is wrong) that bass are lazy and opportunistic. They have a mindset to get the biggest meal they can while expending the least of amount of energy. So that means to get the biggest bait you can. A big one will bite. I also saw that Roland Martin show. He was using shiners that were about 8-10 inches. In that same show he stated he started out shiner fishing...and has no problem going back to them.
