Fredericksburg Va.
Mrs. Matstone, you'd probably be better off hitting up the Gander Mtn. in Fredricksburg than fishing lol! ;D

what craw would you use
chigger craw looks alot more like a real craw than the wooly hawg craw. so it depends what you're looking for. if you want a realistic one, go with the berkley, if you want more of a "creature" profile, then go with the YUM. personally, i'd go with the YUM, but thats just me.

Craw question
brent, what model crawfish is that? i was gonna say, your lake fork craw looks very realistic, minus that little worm part stickin out the end, i guess thast just for rigging though, you could cut that part off for a more realistic profile.

january so far
ok that exceller looks pretty nice. what did you do with your megaforce? did you trade it in or sell it or keep it or what? yeah it was awesome to be fishing. didnt bother me at all that i didnt catch anything. i was happy to test out my new 7' avid casting rod. i found out that combined with proper reel settings, it can fling a 5" trick stick halfway across the pond with ease! i fished jigs alot yesterday with no avail. oh well...at least i was out there. i think im gonna PM ya about jig fishing paul, your real good at it and i need to be real good at it ;D

Im feelin froggy
dont wanna sound like a smart*ss, but a frog rod. lol they make rods designed for frogs. ive never researched frog rods so i couldnt reccomend one to you, but if you wanted to get serious about frogging, a frog rod and some 30-50lb braided line would be a good investment.

Cordell Jointed Spot
never heard of a jointed rattle trap type lure either. looks cool. let us know how it does!!!
-
Great lure.........for some.
its the same way with jigs for me. i fish it for a good while every time i go, you figure a fish has to bite sometime....nope. and its not like i fished it for 20 min once and didnt like it so i put it at the bottom of my list, i fish it soooooooo much but never get a bump out of it. hopefully things will change in '08. :-/

Night time Bassin?
regarding lights: if youre night fishing, stay away from white lights!!!! they actract bugs like all get out, and they will quickly destroy your natural night vision. Cones in your eyes adjust to color very fast, about a minute, where as the rods, which adjust to darker things adjust much slower. it takes about 45 minutes to develop good night vision. if you are going to use a light, make sure it is red or green, as these colors have shorter wavelengths and will not attract bugs or destroy your natural night vision. another science lesson from Professor Saavedra

Craw question
YUM Crawbugs look bad*ss. they are by far the most realistic soft plastic craw around. some craws look pretty good but they have no depth. they are flat or very thin, unlike a crawfish. YUM crawbugs are actually round like a real crawfish and look just like em. i honestly think that they made a mold of a real crawfish when they made their lures lol. i dont even fish craws much, but i would be willing to bet that removing one pincer and melting the other shut would increase catch rate.
-
Better Frog
i agree fishindude. i dont even frog fish much, infact, i cant catch a fish on a frog to save my life....they always miss it and on the rare occasion they do bite i cant get hooked up because of the crappy hooks on the snagproof frog. but i took out the crappy double hook and added a single 4/0 gammy so im excited to see how it'll improve my hook-ups. plus, my sister isnt giving me as much money as i had hoped, so im not even gonna get a frog : ;D

River2Sea Bubble Popper vs. Spro Dawg
thanks man. turns out i bought the spro dawg and bubble popper lol!
-
Great lure.........for some.
jigs (caught two)--fish jigs ALL THE TIME, only caught two dinks in a stocked farm pond. spinnerbaits (caught one)--fish em often, not as much as jigs or worms or crakns. lipless cranks (caught none)--dont fish em very much at all, but never had anything on em.

BPS trip
lightweight! no i was at that same BPS and i ended up with at grand total of $80. i got some pretty cool stuff.

Night time Bassin?
night fishing is awesome! ive caught some real nice ones. only things i dont like is that you cant see your fish when you catch em unless you use lights and i dont like to use lights. also, the pictures come out pretty nasty (for me at least) how do you take good night pictures? thanks man!

anyone use rod n reel to catch shiners for bassin'?
oh and if you do chum, dont over chum, cuz they they wont want to take your bait, they will just eat the chum. i catch shiners and bluegill all the time at my local park so i have some good experience at it
-
anyone use rod n reel to catch shiners for bassin'?
i developed my own secret recepie to make some dough for bluegills and shiners at the park. they demolished it. what i did was i took an empty butter tub and put in some flour (add enough flour to make enough for how much you wanna use) then i added a good deal of garlic powder to it and mix it up real nice. then (here comes the secret) add enough vegetable oil to make it into a nice dough consistency. use vegetable oil because it will prevent the dough from going all soggy on you and falling off the hook. oil is water resistant so it keeps its shape and stays on the hook! have fun with it and let us know how it goes.

caught this 9" shiner while fishing a creame colored chunk of a plastic worm on a size 12 hook on UL tackle (messing around with the bluegills on the shoreline at the park)

Slumps
mmmm i might have to disagree with that ;D on a slow day its usually the fishing that people dont like and they are thrilled with the catching
