  1. nope ive never seen any bass blow up in there. i thought they were too dense also but i wanted to know what you guys thought. i have tried fishing around the bank edges (theres about a foot of clear water before the pads start...visible in the photograph) with no success. i love to fish senkos around the edges though...i get LOTS of bass doin that. i also hear lots of frogs croaking, but none in the water... gues this just isnt the place to fish a frog?
  2. i NEVER fish lipless CB's....i donno why....just one of those lures that i have several but never get around to fishing them. the favorite one that i have is a rattlin rapala in shad color...but tha is just from looks and feel...ive never got it wet.
  3. jig: strike king bitsy bug in green pumpkin w/ an appropiratley sized watermelon/red flake curly tail grub as trailer. worm: natural shad or watermelon red flake 5" senko rigged texposed. CLEAR WATER = STAY NATURAL!!!
  4. well im not really sure how to fish frogs in this kind of stuff....a majority of the lake is like this, only in most places the lily pads are in sparse clumps. but these are the kind of lily pads that lay flat on the water and overlap, so i dont know how to fish a frog on them!!! what would you guys reccomend?
  5. haha title sure got MY attention!!! ;D
  6. im gonna have to try that topwater trick BW!!! i dont have any "Lucky 13's" but i think i'll try a Pop-R.
  7. ok good...now i dont feel so uneasy about using spinning gear... ill have to check out Dicks to see what rods they have... actualy my friend has a saltwater combo made by shakespeare that he's selling....maybe i'll ask him about that.
  8. i was out today and i caught 4 bass including a really niced sized one...much bigger than the rest...maybe 18-19" all on live bluegill. what i do is i hook it in the back above the spinalcord. for placement, i usually put it directly above the pectoral fin and about midway between the spinalcord and the top of the fish. this is usually about 3/4 of the way up from the lateral line to the top of the fish. i just used a 3/0 or 4/0 worm hook...im not exactly sure of the size. cast around where you see schools of the bluegill... hold the rod and jerk it along to wear it out and give it the struggling appearance. works like a charm.
  9. i got the same problem. i cant cast overheand w/ my BC. i can cast anyway i want w/ spinning, but only side arm w/ BC. it seems whenver i try to do an overhand cast i always get tangled i think this is because of the force applied from the overhand motion but the lure just isnt movin that fast. im not even applying much force into the cast either....maybe i should try snapping my wrist instead...
  10. yup thats it...good job J
  11. o youre one sick puppy
  12. hahahaha!!!! ok it will just bug you then
  13. yep thats the one. i'd reccomend that or a shad (silver sides black back, black spot behind the eye). also you could attempt a bluegill pattern.
  14. yeah ive tried it but didnt realy know what i was doing so it never worked. will try next time tho. i alway called it the bowstring.
  15. my biggest was 7 and state record was 11-2 so i got about 63%.
  16. well im used to using spinning gear and i dont get worn out plus im most comfortable w/ it so ill use it, now im not gonna use periods just to make burley mad ;D but anyway im not gonna go buy a whole new reel just to fish one lure i'll stick w/ the reel that i have, its a standard bass reel and has never let me down
  17. yeah im sure it works good n' all but im just saying it looks ugly.
  18. how come the spinning gear will wear me out when baitcaster wont? the each have the same gear ratio.
  19. ok thanks. the crappie version of that looks nice, but the bream sucks imo.
  20. alluriblababbba, that is a popper in the front isnt it? sure looks like a cup-face popper in the front there, not a blade...but i donno...that is the closest i could get to what he described.
  21. ok. well the reason i said what i did about snags is because with spinning gear, i can cast right next to it w/o problems, but w/ baitcasting gear, im not so accurate so i might accidently thro in it. im pretty sure i will go w/ spinning gear because i am much better w/ it. thats what makes the most sense to me...how about you guys?
  22. ok i plan on getting one of the mattlures ultimate bluegills soon. i also plan on getting a H or MH rod and some braided line for it. what im wondering tho is should i get a spinning or casting rod and should i spool my spinning reel or casting reel w/ the braid? i have a medium sized spinning reel adn its an excellent all around reel...its an Okuma Stratus ST-30. i can cast w/ both spinning and casting gear, but im MUCH better w/ spinning gear. both my reels have a 5.1-1 gear ratio. my casting reel is an old abu garcia ambassaduer 5500C. i can cast with it but im not the best caster and i cant cast very accuratley and im afraid that i may nest it and then i wont be able to use it for the rest of the day and then i coudlnt use my swimbait anymore. also i might accidently cast into some snags because im using casting gear. so i think it would be alot better and safer for me to use spinning gear w/ this bait, what do you guys think? thanks, dave.
  23. can someone post a link to the bagley cranks? i seen those bluegill imitation in a BPS catalog but i cant seem to find them anywhere else and i dont have the catalog anymore.

Bass actually inhale the bait, not suck it in like a spaghetti noodle. ;D At $7.95, hopefully it's the new biggest thing in fish scents, err "lubricants". Let us know how you like it after you tested it out a bit! Good luck! actually hes got a very good point about using it as lubricant. its reccomended on high quality soft swim baits to keep the plastic fresher and lubricated. and specially on frogs when you have to push the plastic down to set the hook, lube would work nicely there.
  25. yeah im a member of TU. but i dont have an airbrush. i think ill use nailpolish. and also the hooks on jitterbugs dont come off.
