  1. It's fishin' Slomoe... what plans? ;D J/k buddy. Let us know.
  2. Fluke's right. I had the same thing happen to me when I moved in with my gf. I had known this pond was here for about 8-9 years never saw a soul fish it. When I moved in with her and was just starting to fish I decided to check it out. Saw em' jumping all over and lost two biggun's on a spinnerbait first day out. Since then I've caught over 12 2lbers from it. Nice fish in there. I wouldn't cross it off your list until you've spent some time fishing it. Oh yea my specific pond I was talking about is a little over an acre. Barely.
  3. So far: Andrew Paul Dan Ron Me That sucks Simon man... egh. Next time though eh? Cb? Armes? Parrothead? Slomoe? Leegan? Anyone else??? Looks like slim pickins...
  4. Dang man... I just read the story. Sad stuff. I was expecting the barb to have pierced through her but it was the intial contact and her falling back and hitting her head from what it said. Kids in the boat too... so sad to have them see that up close and all and have to experience that. All in the family... just having a nice outing... then the dark clouds... egh. It's not right. Have any of you heard of one of these things leaping out of water before?
  5. What lb test are you using on your rod? What's your rod rated for? How old is it? How tight do you have your drag set? Sounds to me like your rod has had an indentation in the guide and it needs to be replaced. Otherwise it will cut up your line constantly and it will be fraying. I'm assuming you are using braid? Definately hold off on using that rod til' you get it taken care of, that combo = lost fish.
  6. Dan I'll have my cam. It's an old Nikon but it does bass pics a justice. We should definately get a group photo too if you guys ain't too shy. I think thatw ould be something neat for some of the mods maybe to use on the site or something, or just so everyone else on the site can see what a great resource this place is as far as getting people together for some good ole' fashion Bassin'. Can't wait guys. See you in a couple days. This is definately the best organized and biggest NOVA get together yet since I've been around. Thanks for everyone's opinions, thoughts and help in getting this together.
  7. Great job man. Now she has the motivation to get back out there again right?!?!? Nice fish. I love catchin' em on the buzz. The hits are just awesome. When they pull you back down it starts to get intense because you know IT's ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!
  8. Weather update for Saturday fellas. Am showers possible, 30% chance. Rain never hurt anyone, bring your ponchos or a warm jacket and some good hiking boots. Royal was muddy as could be last time out for me. Be prepared. I'll still be there, hope to see you guys. Been stoked all week. Get to try out my new Suffix High Performace Braid with my worms and jigs. W00t! High - 47 Low - 33 (Saturday night) As we arrive Saturday morning it will be 42 at 7am but feel like 38. Winds lighter than usual at just 7mph out of the north. Shouldn't be too bad once it warms up a bit. Not much warming though. I'd layer. P:s: I thought I heard Dan and a couple others mention jon boats and canoes. Fishing would be better if you guys brought em'... and while I'm on the subject will you guys have any open seats??? SHOTGUN! If it's cool lol.
  9. Word of advice. Most companies have a general maintenance page for cleaning or lubing general parts like Maintenance Ports, Bail Arm, Ball Bearing, etc. Look online to see if you can find a maintenance page for cleaning a spinning and/or baitcasting reel. Then go to your companies page (for the reel) and find the specific schematic for your reel if you want to investigate further. I'd have someone work with you as we realized it was pretty complicated. My dad is a pretty good handyman though and was able to figure stuff out pretty well. If you do wanna go ahead and take it apart, label ALL the parts and place them in order of the schematic on a paper towel facing the exact direction as indicated on it. Don't be aggressive in taking stuff off so you don't break anything. Looking at this thread you should find the answers or common answers to your problems as Reel Mech diagnosed mine pretty good him being where he is and me here. Great guy that character.
  10. Thanks alot for all your help last night dad. Hopefully problem solved. If it ends up being a part issue though I'm just gonna buy a new reel. At least we know how to take those spinning reels apart and assemble them again. Makes for less money spent on repairs. I'm confident we did all we could. I don't think we really missed anything after looking at that schematic and comparing parts and all. Can't wait for Saturday to try it out!
  11. Congrats Bassin! Couldn't have happend to a nicer and more deserving guy. For all you contribute here we thank you and wish you and your family health and happiness for the long run. I got my first coming in September and I am stoked as can be. Currently reading up everything I can from the pregnancy, to birth, to the first years. But I know nothing can prepare you for the real thing. You are a lucky guy. I can't wait til' I am in that moment. Good luck man.
  12. x2 on the spinnerbait. Even the mini strike kings work well. Work it around any grass or potential bedding areas. Remember this early in the year bass are keying in on smaller baitfish, start big and work your way down to smaller sizes. Maybe start with a 3/8oz or something. I would also throw a Mann's Shallow Crank or a Floating Rapala Rattle Trap. Just some other ideas for you, but sounds like you have a solid plan. Oh yea... if your gonna throw that senko and aren't getting any bites or the bass are finicky don't be afraid to bust out the shakey head depending on the bottom composition. Something with a little more action and wiggle to it can sometimes change their minds. Hop it if the ground on the bottom is ok to do it.
  13. Lead and communism don't mix. Hey Dan the first time my wife saw that picking up sinkers for catfishing rigs she said the same thing. I always thought that was dumb. CJ... priceless dude
  14. I wasn't sure if we had a thread like this on here before. If so I apologize fellas. Just trying to bring something fun to the table.
  15. Ok guys chime in. This thread could be fun, thanks to Roadwarrior I came up with the idea. All of us see random warnings on everyday products out there that blow our minds. SOMEBODY had to be dumb enough to go ahead and do the most irrational thing with the product that the company had to prompt warnings on the product for future use. My example: "Warning: knives are sharp" - Our latest cutlery set from Bed Bath and Beyond... OHHHHH... it all makes sense now!
  16. Breakfast: Wawas Blueberry or Chocolate Chip Muffins, or Wawas Glazed or Boston Creme Donuts, sometimes Mom's fresh baked Blueberry Muffins with REAL blueberries, donut holes from Dunkin or a grocery store. Lunch: Nuthin'... too busy fishing. Dinner: Whatever the wife has made, whatever my mom has cooked up at their place, or... raiding the fridge at home.
  17. Dude man, no need to apologize. You didn't start anything. Sometimes those of us have been here a while get frustrated and maybe lose our cool a bit or get annoyed at frequently asked questions. Bottom line, now you know about the search tool, about basics of posting, and all the other stuff that a person new on the forum should have some common knowledge of. Sometimes we give people a hard time. I doubt anyone meant anything by it. Now you can start enjoying the forum for what it is. Consider it an initiation ritual haha! "The only stupid questions is the one that is not asked" And if anyone else hasn't told you there are some excellent articles on the main page of bass resource for all your basic/int/adv tackle applications and choices. Have fun... that's what this place is for. Sorry you may have got the wrong impression about the forum. You should never feel bad when all you are trying to do is gain knowledge on the hobby/sport.
  18. I'm not planning on writing up a report for a newspaper dude lol. Just my first impressions of it. I probably eventually will put up a review but it won't be for months. I haven't even posted a review for the Suffix Superior line I've been using on my crank rod all season thus far (2 months) haha. But I eventually will.
  19. Chatsworth Ct right there at the end of the culdesac. It's a pretty decent sized circle and I'm sure it will hold quite a many cars. Dan you still gonna be out there bud? I know Simon and Andrew, my Dad and I, and Leegan are going as of now. How many others we gonna expect? If I remember reading right I think CJ will be up from Stafford and Paul is going to be coming out as well (PKschul). Looks like as of now a count of at least 8. So that's cool. More would be even better. See you guys on the lake.
  20. Directed to???.... I've been a Boston fan my whole life. I just don't like the Patriots, somehow I grew up loving the Denver Broncos. But I cheer for the Celtics, Bruins, Eagles (BC), and Red Sox. I'm assuming it wasn't directed at me.
  21. Ohhhhh ok. It may have just been a one time issue though. I mean I'm sure those types of things are normally checked when the spools are made or produced. Anyway... thanks for the heads up though. I'll check for any before I spool up tonight. After my trip this weekend and if I go out tommorrow I'll post my thoughts on the Suffix for you guys.
  22. Tony, does the line come with directions or a guide as far as spooling it up on a spinning reel? I'm assuming not since it's probably primarily used for baitcasters. Anyway, so what sharp metal things are you talking about? I definately don't want to chance fraying my line or having impaired line on my reel when it's all said and done. Anyone else had this problem? Ways around it? Guess I'll find out tonight when I line my Sonora Reel.
  23. Go Celtics baby. Ya'll remember that fantasy football commercial a while back about TJ Whosyourmomma? Championship... lol. Bye bye streakers. Sorry had to chime in, Boston fan here, born and raised in Lowell, Mass.
  24. Lol, this happend on my honeymoon in mid October last year. BOA called me to see if the money I was all of a sudden spending in Ohio on Playoff Tickets for the Red Sox Indians, the hotel, the resort we stayed at and passes to the rock n' roll hall of fame and nfl hall of fame were all legit. They actually stopped payment on the money I was spending at the resort. When I gave the lady my debit card at the counter she said my card was denied. I had known I made the transfer from my savings o I was like WTH? So I had to call BOA and they had me run through all the details of the trip and what not and verify that all my account info was correct, ask me all these questions. These guys were right on it! I'm glad we have people monitoring our accounts when they see out of the norm stuff like that. The lady was real nice too, started telling me a bit about her honeymoon and wished us all the fun and said my account would be fine from here on out while I was in the Ohio area.
  25. Wishing you a great continued recovery period. Good news! The next report we hear will hopefully be even better. Hang in there bud.
