I got the same letter, and was skeptical. Since I had a trip coming up, wanted some new gear, I decided to give them a shot anyway. The price was right, and worst case, I wasted 45 bucks. I gave them a good real world workout and was pleased. I had a BIG Northernon that the rod handled great. Just wish i had the drag set loser because it shook the hook right before we got it in the net. Dohhh! I am used to Lightning Rods, Ugly Sticks, that type of rod. These are as good if not better in my opinion. It seems to truly be a mom and pop shop, I have emailed and talked to the president and customer service, and I think they are Husband and Wife. There is a picture of one of my fish, a bass between 5 and 6 pounds on the website.
If your used to St. Croix quality, don't bother, but if your used to what I am and are not a full time fishermen, you should be pleased. Two things that I didn't care for when I first received them, the plastic threads to tighten the reel in, and the lead warning sticker. There are lead warning stickers on everything these days though, even lures, and the actual part that hold the reel is metal. Just my opinion, I've been fishing my whole life, but am used to average quality rods. I do think these feel better than what I'm used to, and I have had some pretty big fish on them already. I will buy again if I can convince my wife I need more rods.
