  6. great post catt so Mr Catt's done it once again. how about the differnt ways to fix trailers on a jig? this may be worth another post but i for one am still talking about jigs, ive nused 3 inch worms, chunks, craws, and 4 inch grubs as trailers. also what color jigs do yall like with what color trailers? i'd love to hear your thoughts on this catt,rw,flukester, glenn, flechero, lbh, muddyman, ghoti, bassboys, avid, man i got too many friends to list so lets just get everyone to throw in their two cents ;D ;D ;D ;D i like a red and black jig which is currently a chatter bait which is still technicly still a jig, cant seem to find any red trailers however, or other red jigs,my next favorite would be black and blue, white and this one jig i forget who putts it out but it has a sillicon skirt and has a nice bluegill pattern.
  7. what i'll do is try out those storms on my quest med/hvy rod and that okuma stratus with that 10 lb cajun red cast that reminds me i need to test that castic crappie bait you sent me as well we have plenty of crappie fish here so that should work wonders ;D ;D ;D down here we tend to call them crappy fish ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  8. thanks for letting me know that chris glad i was smart enough to fish the storms i have on cajun line i usually reserve my braided line and leader for jig work. 8-)
  9. That's probably fine but may feel a little light. thats what i was thinking to flechero so you think a hvy would be better?
  10. well the one kick minnow i have is the cherry red color, should be good for the spawn, but i have a few other storm baits such as the fire tiger in 1 inch size as well as the 2 inch size i also have the 2 inch silver shinner color i do pretty well with those fire tiger 1 inch size for smallies haven't tried the gizard shad yet i'm planning on getting more of the storm series before my tournament in january comes up.
  11. thanks flechero bro i apperciate that info im gonna have to check into it i have a med/heavy fast action quest im7 rod would this work? it will take lures 1/4 to 5/8 ?
  12. Heres a question for you guys who build, what should i look for in a rod that would be good for swim baits? this question goes out to flukester, flechero, ronnie,Daveeeeeeeeeeeeeee G etc... Also what kind of rod should i be looking at for swiming jigs, and chatter baits? :-? oh my price range is around 40 bucks or so. even if i can pick up a used one that would be great. if not a used one what brand.power and action should i look for in that price range?
  13. dicks sporting goods and gander mtn carry them here in huntsville, but i cant kind the kicking tail minnow at the wal marts here.
  14. I'm sure we can set something up but I'll be looking to learn a few things from you. I'll PM you. if you boiys are going pm me as well all i'll need is a ride i'm in madison,al by the way, ive been trying to get r.w down this way for some smallie fishing (hint, hint r.w) ;D
  15. you can also buy shinners at Busters Bait and tackle on goveners dr in huntsville, year around, which is the only place in huntsville or madison ive found them. Personally i use a 8 to 10 lb test of cajun red cast for smallies its worked out well for me have'nr had any break offs as of yet.
  16. That is my point. Watching your line may be important and very helpful at times, but developing a "feel" for the jig is important "all" of the time. (good luck feeling anything with a jig fished on an Ugly stick and stretchy mono), but if that what he's got he can detect bites by line watching. exactly how i 1st picked up jig fishing belive me i didnt get the sensitivity i needed with that so i went home skunked more often then not. maybe i should sell that old ugly stik and get a better rod for cranks and jigging ;D ;D ;D. the best bites i got on that ugly rod was for stripers, but for lmb and smallies never caught one on that till i fixed up an old broom i found
  17. Mr Catt, thanks for that advise looks like im gonna be flipping and pitching jigs in the backyard again ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
