  1. i'm going fishing tommorow so i thought i'd get some input. im going to madison county lake here in alabama near gurly alanbama i called the lake manager since he and his wife and nice friends of mine and they run a great lake for largemouth bass. they got some rain up there today and i was advised that the water temp is 86 and water visability is 20 inches. in knowing this what would yall be thinking of in terms of presitation, and what lures or baits would you use and why?
  2. thats a pretty snake
  3. Looks can be deceiving, if it 's red, black and yellow be careful it can be a coral snake, there 's an old say: if red touches black ---> venom lack ( harmless, false coral snake ), if red touches yellow ---> kill a fellow ( poisonous, true coral snake ) but I don 't think I 'm going to stay there if I see the color scheme in depth detail. What else you should avoid ----> anything that has rattles on the other end of the tail. Where I live there are a lot of poisonous animals: rattlesnakes, scorpions, black widow spiders, those really nasty red/orange stripped wasps with more firepower than an Apache helicopter with attitude, those big black bumble bees and to round up the hot critter family the fire ants. Learn to move along the banks and always be careful where you step, don 't ever jump over a fallen tree, a rattlesnake can be undernearth it and bite you when you land on the other side. Step on the tree, take a look and then step down from the tree, use a cane where you are walking along grassy banks, sweep the grass in front of you with it, if there 's a snake it will either crawl away or take defensive position and you will be able to see it. thanks raul for that advise Hmmm in seeing red i keep thinking red plastic snake lures for some reason. i most definately avoid rattles or any brown looking snakes im not really scared of snakes but i'm not going to be stupid either. i know down here alot of snakes are in the rocks and under the bridges so i avoid those areas no matter how productive the fishing is. but with my hearing thats why i try so hard to get someone to go fishing with me when i wade or bank fish besides cottonmouths are far more common in alabama then many people realize,as are king snakes and those posionous red ones
  4. raul i'll be fishing at a secondary lake no resivors here

  8. in my experince i tend to not like the gulp worms they are a bit on the heavy side for shaky heads so i havent found them as productive with this tactic, i most likely need to learn how to use the gulp correctly since i dont have much experince with it

  13. i have a question for our resident snake man here. in being hearing impaired and near deaf when im fishing off the bank what are sure fire signs in detecting these snakes so i wont get bit? what type of area's should i avoid since my hearing is poor and limited? also isnt the color of the snake an indicator of what type of snake it is? if so what colors should i avoid that are native to the alabama area? i'm hoping you'll know these things, also can you post more pics so i can learn to recinize which species are what i belive this is an interesting thred that could actually help save lives in the future. David
  14. sounds like something i should try they just raised the price of ciggs here in alabama again so now for a generic pack its almost 3.50 here,i'm getting sick of running out and not affording it,coughing up a lung in the am. i started smoking when i was 13 wish i never did some how its not as cool as i thought it would be. i'm down to a pack a day now before it was upwards 3 packs aday. and i was buying cans of tobacco and loading my own with the filter tubes (zig, zag's ) but now their 18 bucks a can with the filters when i started on the can and loading i got it for 10 bucks and that was a carton to me. i'm gonna quit cuz i want that extra money

avid, i think it pretty much is going to depend on what you as the owner will prefer. ultimately your the one who must be happy so this is what i'd do. i'd look into many differnt packages as to what differnt companies offer that you may or may not be interested in check everything out and i mean everything. i know you said nothing fancy but still im sure you may want to upgrade just a lil bit after all you had one close call totalled that mama jama and walked away as if you were bad to the bone, so why not give your self a lil treat ( please no angela jolie pics j/k ;D) lita ford maybe ;D ;D either way treat yourself even if its only to an ice cream cone i'd say after this rough period recovbering form surgry you deserve it and more. 24. as far as musky lures meps has some great inline musky spinners you can use, also rapala tail dancers work well when trolling, as do x raps with a twitch, twitch, pause action. i haven't fished for musky since i was a kid when i lived in il. also musky can be taken with big bass shinersand the likes of such. if i remember more i'll post it.
