  1. i belive john is quite correct however i do use the walmart spinnerbaits for situations where i may lose one that i may not throw a 5 dollar spinner bait in and i catch plenty of good fish. but i also use strike kings spinner baits and the booyah's it depends on where im fishing, what cover is available and what structure im casting into and so on.
  2. Ive been fishing Madison co lake near gurley ,alabama ive found the best times for me are between 10 am and 3pm then again at 6pm to 10 pm.
  3. my biggest producers are the zara spook, strike kings mini buzz in chartruse, then the mini in spinner in same color, also the zoom black lizrd with red flakes as a top water my other big producer is strike kings boot tailed frog
  4. hey i love Bass recource also . theres so many good fishermen, great tips, its a great site to learn about bass, besides the magizines and books i do read. im one of those guys who think about Bass 24-7.
  5. oh crap i just became a member of Bass on a yearly basis. whats a lifetime membership cost anyway? i haven't got the rag yet nor any info,im also a member of north american fishing club and have been a member of nafc since 2005.
  6. oh in refering to the 1st post on electronics for bank or peir fishing i use the hummingbird rss 25 smart cast fishfinder. i tend to like the one you attact to your pole rather then the watch .
  7. ive fished the c rig many times in my 30 odd years of fishing. i like the 1 oz weight with plactic bead then the double swival from there i use a 3 foot leader minimum with an owner hook. the plastic baits i prefer are made by strike king one that works great for me is the strike kings pumpkin finesse worm with chartruse tail which works great in stained water for me, in muddy water i like the strike kings black lizard with red flakes, but this also works great in stained water. in clear water i love using the 6 inch pearl shad with silver flakes, another i use is the chartruse frog by strike king. all these baits are indorsed by shaw grigsby i belive. then again i also use the orginal floating worm the pumpkin seed colors great, also i have used the bubble gum floating worm, and the white floating worm. my rod action is the mh ugly stik with a dawia 1600 which was made in the 90's since that can handle 15 lb line. i tend to use cajun line partcularly the red cast for this tactic, but if i want to go into heavy cover or trees i like the ugly braid. i dont use any line lower then the 14 lb test. ive found the cajun line 14 lb test to be as strong as 20 lb mono in my experince.
  8. Aww heck looks like i got caught with all those bass mags again ;D
  9. Holy Crap you really think so? (crap's holy?!)
  10. heres a better poop joke . think this lure will actually work?
  11. I havent been able to find any bass clubs in the Huntsville Madison area. can anyone direct me as to where the rocket city bass club went i cant even find their website online.
  12. Why dont you take a picture of me wondering what to do next?
  13. seams to me im going to madison co lake which is about 11 miles from Huntsville i'll be up there in the early morning saturday june 30th. since its my sisters b-day i wont stay all day like i normally would :'( but in any event today im getting my humming bird sonor fish finder which clips to a pole, however i have though about getting the one thats on a watch which cost 10 bucks more but has a shorter ranger wehich is 75 ft the pole clip on has 150 ft op range. i figure since i dont have a boat that dont mean i cant get a lil bit of an edge. oh yeah ive talked to a few people who fish for bass there im told the fishings been good and i was told what area's to check out on this lake since its a small like which some call a BIG POND lol. in any even that means i'm getting a NEW TOY to play with YAY!!!!
  14. The Current record for BlueGill stands at 4 lbs so if you catch a bluegill over 4 lbs better have it registered and weighted on a certified scale because that would certianly be a record breaker ive caught 3.5 lb bluegill and bream which are basically the same thing.
  15. what techniques are used for floating worms as a top water bait?
  16. ok what i ment was from ditto landing and up to the wheeler resivior im pretty new to fishing this whole intire area. i need it to be accessable by car my buddy usually drives me since i dont drive im disabled well deaf i could use some good hints ive already figured out a white lipsless crank might be good to have handy since it looks like that will match some of the hatch that i saw.
  17. ok then could you possiably point me out to where along the tennessee river i might be more effective as a bank fishermen? any idea you give me could help besides 2 heads are better then one lol
  18. hey roadwarrior thanks alot i apperciate that. how ever i did see some small bass chasing my lure but they were mostly slapping at it
  19. well this last saturday i tried fishing wheeler dam which is near rogersville, alabama. I got skunked bad this is twice in a row trying to fish the reservoir off the bank since i dont have a boat. i however did get some bass to follow my red eye shad which was the metallic tennessee shad color. i kept thinking match the hatch and didnt have anything remotely resembling the bait fish i saw. im thinking i need a white red eye shad. i love how this shad lipless crankbait handles i was bouncing it all over the rocks and what ever was down there i could feel each bump and ding i never got hung up even once. so what do i do the current is so strong it was pulling a 3 oz triangle weight which was the biggest i had which i used as a test to see if it would stay or hold.
  20. most excellent guys sounds like were set for a 30 day july challenge then . this is going to be a blast one humdinger of a challenge. Hmmmm i wonder if we can get ole J.T Bagwell on this one lol.what i wouldnt do to take on ole J.T that guy can fish. theres only one lil problem with my side of it i dont got no boat so im bank fish'n so that just makes it all the more interesting for me. oh yeah somebody call kevin vandam tell him its on lol That Nutty fishermen done it again
  21. congrats on that fathers day fish buddy. i went fishing on fathers day als at wheeler dam here in alabama im afraid my daughter and i got skunked.
  22. Okkkkkkkkkkyyyyy heres the challenge as follows. im going to be fishing wheeler dam here in alabama saturday june 23rd. my challenge is as follows. 1. A 5 Bass limit. 2. One must be caught on a soft bait of choice. (mine will be a yum Crawbug} 3. One Must be caught on any lipless crankbait of your choice. {mines a red eye shad} 4. One Must be caught on either a Buzzbait or spinner of choice. {mines a spinner on a storm perch swim bait} 5. One off a jig of choice trailer or no trailer. {Mines a Booyah jig with yum crawdad} 6. One must be off a top water lure such as a popper, walker or spitter. anyone up to this challenge?! this challenge is open to all members pro and none pro alike. lets see what yall can do any body of water is fine lakes, ponds, river you choose it but must report where fished. The main thing of this challenge is to have a ball get goofy even crawzy with it. please be safe have a great fishing day
  23. i tend to use both i like the berkleys gulp crawbug in this lure theres a lil pocket i can add a jig in it to give the lure the hardness in the soft bait and more realistic movement as a crawdad. ive found this to be quite effective for bass off the bottom. another thing i do is use this crawbug as a topwater lure. i know this sounds strange but it does work ive had many big bass hit the lure as it sinks when its near cover.
  24. could anyone tell me the gear ratio of this old reel. i have one of these on my medium action ugly stik and the reel fits the poundage for the pole, however i havent been able to find out what the gear ratio is. this reel i have is in nearly new condition, which i have set up on stren 14lb test line. also can anyone tell me what year this reel came out in?
  25. well i know what sam says is true about that can of worms. turns out i couldnt find the ugly braid the guy at dicks sporting goods which i talked to talked me into a 14 lb stren mono cuz he said it was low memory and decent abrasion resistant. while i was there i got a blue gill looking like red eyed shad,as well as a green watermelen booyah boo jig, then i got 2 bags of yum crawdad's to add to my arsonal . im going to be at wheeler dam this saturday where i know theres lots of weed cover and lots of rocks. oh i almost forgot i got a rainbow trout like walker or popper bait. got plenty of spinners for twisters and storm perch like swim baits think i got enough YET? lol Naw lures are like golf balls ya can never have enough of em in my book.
