New to fishing please help
As already said READ, READ, and READ some more. There is an endless supply of info on here. I know this site has made me a much better fisherman. I used to be quite happy fishin all day and getting 3-4 bass around 2lbs each, but after spending many hours reading info on here my #'s have exploded and quality of fish is also much better. Read up and follow Roadwarriors tips and you'll be hammering them in no time.

Fishing story with a happy ending
Well fortunatly it wasn't an expesive rod, just a Dicks special, so happy would be correct. I've NEVER seen a rod take of like that. I can only imagine what could have been. Yes thats definetly a trophy here in NH. I've been very fortunate to get my share of 5+lbers but over 6 doesn't happen too often. I thought for sure it was gonna weigh more and be my new PB. My PB is 6lb12oz also caught this year, a little over a month ago.

Fishing story with a happy ending
So yesterday morning I had no intentions of fishing. Then around noon time a guy I used to fish with all the time calls and wants me to meet him and his brother at a place we used to hammer them at. I haven't be doing good at this particular pond at all but since I hadn't seen him in awhile I decide to go ahead and get all my errands done early so I can meet them. Just as I'm getting ready to leave he calls and cancels. Well now I WANT TO GO FISHIN! So i decided to go to a different pond, one that I just fished last week for the first time in awhile and did quite well. I get there and start fishing and for almost an hour its a ghost town not even a nibble. Then another friend calls. while I'm talking to him a get a nice hit on the Rage Tale Eeliminator. I set my phone on the seat and play the fish. I get a good look and its a nice one, a solid 4+lbs. Get it beside the boat and as I reach for him I start to sit down on my phone. Not wanting to break the phone I lean forward to grab the phone and my fish is gone!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! Now my buddy is laughing his butt of as he can hear the splashing and me yelling. I brush it off, get off the phone and cast again. BAM fish on, this one's not getting away. A nice 3.5 lber on the eel again. Sweet back to back casts. I get a nice pic on my phone and release it. Now I take a look at my phone and the pic is gone! This is not my night! Again I cast to the same area and another bass (3 consecutive casts) 3lber. Picked up 4 more on the eel all between 2 and 3 lbs. Then they just disappeared. I decide to head to another area of the pond. On the way I rigged a RT lobster on a keel wieghted hook. Once I got to the new spot I threw the eel right next to the weed line and set my rod down. Picked up the other rod with the craw and threw it out deeper near some logs and set the rod down. turned around picked up the first rod and fish on. I get maybe 3 turns of the reel and my other rod shoots across the boat and before a can grab it it goes right over the side. Now panicing I drop my reel with the eel and a fish and try to grab the rod with the end of my paddle but its gone!! So I pick the rod with eel back up, to my surprise fish is still on. I get it almost to the boat and see he's got another line tangled around him! So I lip him as quick as I can and start pulling in the line by hand. Good news is I got my rod back, bad news is fish is gone as well as both lobster claws. Once I get the eel fish unhooked and released I begin to deal with the cluster of rods and line now laying in the boat. Somehow in all the comotion a third rod (that I wasn't even using) ended up broken! AAAHHHHHH! Just when I thought things were getting better. At this point I have 6 in the boat all between 2 and 3.5lbs, but lost 1 over 4, 2 others and now this mystery fish. I can't go out like that so I replace the lobster with a craw and throw back out deep near the logs. Picked up 3 more in the 2.5-3lb range. Ok, about time to leave, just one more cast. Set the rod down took a drink and as soon as I pick my rod back up KABAAAAM! This thing feels like I'm hooked on the log but its pulling me around. After what seemed like 5 minutes I see her and she's beautiful. 6.5 lbs, ok now things are better! And now I have my first RAGE TAIL HAWG! and a broken rod. Back to top

Anyone have any luck in SOUTHERN NH yet?
Nice fish! Sounds like an adventurous outing. What lake were you fishing? Turtle pond. That place was so out of control with milfoil I stopped fishing there. Then I went there with Shane and a friend of his last week to check it out, and its much much better. milfoil is still pretty heavy but not bad at all.

Is that the one next beside I-93 or the one across the street from the backroom on 28? If youre at the one across from 28 watch out for the enormous turtle! I was there once with my old canoe and it went under canoe where it was 3ft wide. I saw its nose before I lost sight of its tail!! He was huge!!

Anyone have any luck in SOUTHERN NH yet?
well I just got back from fishing Gorham pond in Dunberton. First time there in about 12 yrs. Not my day. Took an old friend of mine there and he absolutely crushed me, 13-3. nothing but dinks, biggest might have been 1.25lb. Definetly my worse beating in years. I'm gonna blame it on being very hungover and on 2.5hrs of sleep. Oh well still a fun morning. Anybody ever fish Purgatory Pond in Dunbarton? I stsrted fishing there 3yrs ago and the place was awesome. Always catch a good # of bass, and quite a few between 4 and 6.5 lbs. also alot of giant sunfish around and over 1lb. Last year #'s dropped of a bit but still good. This year the place is killing me. I had 1 good day there prespawn. In 5 or 6 trips since its been 1 fish per trip and 2 the other day. I don't get it, where'd they all go!

Doubts about fishfinders...
Turn off the fish ID it is completely useless. I have the same unit. It's good for depth, locating drop offs, and deep structure but garbage for marking fish. I've been using mine for about 2.5 yrs. Several times with fish id on it has shown fish when i can clearly see below that there is nothing. I have also never seen any indication of a fish when the Id is off. So for me its for depth only.

I hit turtle pond in concord for the first time since since late april/ early may. I had been skipping it cause the milfoil was so thick. It seems like it must have been treated for it cause it wasn't bad at all today. Fished from 3-8ish. Hauled in 13 LM, with 4 of them between 3 and 3.5lbs the rest were around 2lbs. No pics today but I have found my new favorite bait. The rage tail EELIMINATOR. For me and the bass it was love at first sight. Thanks Shane for setting me up with her. The last time I went fishin I got a couple with it and today right from the first cast it was producing. all 13 LM and 2 pickeral from the eeliminator. I hope this keeps up!

I wouldn't consider the cod we were catching "pigs" the biggest was 28in and 9lbs. I went out earlier this year and had a couple that were 13lb and 15lbs. and a buddy on the boat had a 28lb. those were def more fun but its just pulling dead wieght up from the deep. Now striper on the other hand 34 in is still my biggest. cant wait to hook a 40+.

fmoore, you're on fire dude! I thought I was having some pretty great luck, but getting multiple pigs each time is awesome. I went out deep sea fishing for cod today with a friend of a friend. some how all three of us managed to forget the ice so we couldn't stay out long. But I think thats a good thing. I've never been so tired from fishing. Lost count but had to be 20 each in about 3hrs. Only had 12 keepers between the 3 of us but non stop action was pretty cool, I'd still rather hook an 8lb LMB!

What a good week I've had. I met Shane and UNH at crooked pond today and came across this 5 1/4lb pig. Only a couple other dinks to go with it, but I'm OK with that.

Yup, Shane and I had a pretty good day on a new lake yesterday. Locke lake in Barnstead, got off to a slow start but we picked a few chunks. It seemed like all the bass in there were fat. I've never over estimated some many fish weights before. We totalled about a dozen LM. Here's a couple pics of mine, Shane's got some of his as well.
