Well it has begun, this build is for my daughter, me and my son have been doing this one all week so far, would have posted pics as we built it but the camera has been with the wife untill tonight. so I picked out a pink IM6 medium mudhole blank with fuji alconite guides and a mudhole spilt grip handle kit featuring the American Tackle Aero soft touch spinning seat. I plan on doing a handle kit on my first few builds, I want to get comfortable on other things first before I shape a whole handle set up. I did do a few customize things on the handle kit still. I changed up and put a EVA grip behind the reelseat, I got it at 1 1/8, I should have stuck with the 1 inch, it kinda double humps a bit as you can see, but lesson learned. compared to the cork there's so much to say, cause you guys that told me how much I'll learn is true. I did find out I will be anal about a fore grip, I did adapt a eva tip on this one and my daughter loves it, I on the other hand have discovered that " I don't know what I want yet", I may leave the fore grip off on some of my own rods. Also I will need to go at least 1 1/8 round grips instead of the 1inch grips cause by the time I was done on customizing these I think they went down to 7/8 ;D but they fit my daughter's hand perfect(a mistake worked out just right) well its a start and I will be going to guide set up next, taking a break for now

Killer, man I just recently got involved myself, but you may need to consider on how deep you wanna go to make them, they have kits you can buy or if you want to really get down on custom building it gets more detail, let us know which way your considering?

totally appreciate it ejtaylor822, it makes sense on what your saying about the tip being mostly used down in fishen, This is my daughters rod and its going to be for wormin and some top water action. I know I read it somewhere about that you should try to avoid adding wieght unless its necessary, and I was sure about a worm rod, thanks again.

COOL! nice to hear it works thanks whats your oppinion on wieghts for balance, it appears I need to do this and it will be 2 1oz wieghts(already tested it, I don't want to do this for added wieght but, the rod is off balance pretty good in my oppinion, tips heavy on the tip-top end, I have tried relocating the reel seat and handles but nothen better, I can't remember if it was reel-mech or Tom Kirkmans book that said something about when to consider added wieght, I'm a bit stuck on it, 2oz wieghts balance's that baby just nice but don't want to add if I don't have to. I'd say that if you see a rod horizantle, then the tip lowers down about 10 to 12 inches, is that too much? I think maybe so :-/

Intense, I already beat it, played it on the Wii, need to play it online tho(I've never done that yet) The Japanese was the hard ones to beat for me-It always sacred me hearing one yell out Banzai! ;D I'd take off runnin- that was a hard spot ;D

thanks guys, flechro thanks for the info on the secure tie, I was trying Tom's way in the book but needed to practice a bit more, I stopped it to let my son try a wrapp, I'll pick it back up. Got a question, I want to know if this will work with no problems down the line. I oredered some 1/2 inch Rubberized cork ring for the butt cap, I'm considering to expoxy it straight flush to the blank and handle, I do not have a burrow bit system set up yet to drill out the appropriate depth, so I think this should work fine considering its 1/2. kinda why I ordered this one, its gonna be a split handle system let me know

Had to show my son's first wrap trimmed by gold, he did a bit better than me Mine below, glad we did this, we learned alot on it, that way our first attempt to finish it should go good with no unwrapping problems ;D

I got a phone call today from the lady that had been straighting out my issue, she seen my email and told me to return the heat gun and she would refund my money and the cost of shipping it back. She surely didn't have to do that but thats good service back at me

Well wouldn't you know it, it can happen to you : So I pondered over who to buy from, and settled on someone due to a reputation, now first I'm by no way blaming anyone here that gave me advice on where to go, this I believe is just wrong timing on my part, but I at least gotta share my experience. I customized what I wanted on my first rod building package, and the wife said that I could spend for it, we'd be between two checks and we'd have money left over by the time I got paid anyway, so I didn't argue. I ordered on a thursday, next day they leave a message and I would have a back order on guides, so I corrected that by gettinig another kind(better actually), at that momment I find out my next day air isn't next day, > so I move on with lesson learned. Sunday, the wife notices that I did two purchases on our bank account, NO way I say, it turns out they charged me twice Monday morning we call to fix it, they appoligze and say it well be fixed. two hours later the dead line for my next day delivery package doesn't show up, I call about it, they can't find it Tuesday this morning wife calls me and says they never fixed the double charge, and guess what-a check bounced :'( we call bank plead with them and they understood and cut us a break no bouncy check, we call the dealer again to explain that a missy was suppose to fix said problem, manager ends up fixing problem and they took off the overnight charge as well, so cool I get back extra money package shows up today finally and I get everything out to check. I get down to the new heat gun and the sucker quits worken, just quits worken so now I have to consider returning this crud of a heat gun back and look forward to all of what intels it So there it is, yey what a great way to start my first rod build experience sometimes stuff happens, neadless to say I can't buy from them for awhile untill the wife forgets about it ;D well it lets me find someone closer anyway. sure would have been better if they didn't double charge me PS I forgot also, their site was down for routine maintenance so I couldn't find out the procedure to return the heat gun

I went thru this last year and after looking at all I could(I made up my mind to get a good one) I settled on getting a sleep number, NICE! it depends how bad your looken for one to pay the price, now I got a king dual operated air controll pillow top right at $2000, I walked out not getting anything else extra cause thats where they get ya I already did my homework and knew what I wanted, The salesman tried but, thats all I bought, now I figured what all he was trying to sell me and it would have cost over $5000 if I would have done that : stay with the bed don't get caught up with extras, go to wally-world for the rest OH, i'm a 35 ;D

So what your saying is, They don't work Saturdays. I guess I missed that small print somewhere, sure didn't see it, I understand if they don't deliver on weekends, whished I seen it tho. they still have no problem taking your money and not telling you : I guess you gotta read all the fine print anymore or learn the harder way. OK I payed for overnight shipping, that was a choice and I picked it, it shipped out today at 4:00 from FL to IN. Why will it be here Monday? I ordered this morning at MudHole and came home today and checked my email, in it they told me that they had called me, so I check it and there's a voice mail from MH, at the end of the message they tell me to expect my order Monday before 7:00pm Does FedEx not work on Saturdays? I had to have missed something but what is it. Congrats on the wii, I say the wii sports are best for family next to mario's. The carnival one is awsome, the Nerf one is a blast and I got to play the Rock Band yesterday, I made fun of this game but now I must buy it ;D

Thanks for the input fellas, I think I will settle on the mudhole blank, I might just do one set up for my wife or daughter first. I've kept all my notes and added the Alconites to it, I plan to keep a log on all my rod ideas for future referance well, Gotta get past the Xmas bills and then I should beable to buy it. Just gotta wait it out a little here , oh, well at least I know its comen
