A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Nice fish NHGuy!! What were you using for bait if you do not mind me asking? I've been hitting the rivers today on foot. I've only fished the Contoocook below the dams in Hillsboro and below the Hopkinton Dam (Everet dam?). Lots of fish (I think 3 smallies, 2 largies and a bluegill) but nothing big. The biggest was a 1 lb largie this evening. I caught them all on a Rapalla F9 in Gold.

Your Biggest freshwater fish?
So far I've caught a 2 lb 15 oz smallie the other day(my profile pic) that I'm most proud of because I had to flip it over a tree in the middle of a river mouth I was fishing to land the fish after it had taken the jitterbug. My biggest is a 3 lb 7 oz Largie that I did not have a camera for, just a scale. Just started fishing for bass this summer in the beginning of July, so I know they are not monsters. Not bad for NH though.

Best Crank Baits?
I'm really new to bass fishing, but I've been a trout fisherman my whole life. I got hooked when I went bass fishing with a friend and he had me try his Rapalla F9 in Gold (I think it's a gold shiner replica). I had never seen one lure get so many fish in different parts ofthe day(well, until my smallie catching black jitterbug experience the last two days that I'll be posting about sometime soon). I also have it in F-5 for trout, believe it or not. But, as good as the golden is, the Rapalla F-11 in silver catches bigger fish and gets a bit deeper I think. I also caught three, 2 to 3.7 pounders in a row the other week with it. I also had good luck with one of the "anniversary" lures in a reddish gold colr. I cannot rememebr the number, but it is a special edition lure that is weighted differently and seems to catch fish for me. As you can tell, I'm a big Rapalla guy, but I've been having less luck with them lately, and more with Jitterbugs.

My fiasco of an outing
OUCH! Sorry about the day. Next time will be better as you have used up all the bad luck.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
excellent points. For such a great fishing state, our access is terrible.

Where did they go?
you make a good point in your post. We had a good time too, regardless of the poor fishing! I hope the fish are not vacationing at the same time I'm taking mine!!

Where did they go?
We went fishing at a new pond in NH last week, and the big bass were practily leaping into the boat. It was easly to catch several fish, most of them big bass. Well, last night we went back to the same pond, and had almost NO luck. We caught a few small fish, and my buddy caught one decent bass, but nothing special. The barometer was steady, the light was good, and we stayed out until 9:00pm using every different type of lure we had. Fished the whole lake including the deep parts. Where did they all go? I talked to other people on the same pond who also had very little luck yesterday.

New Hampshire Trout Fishing
The trout were biting down here in Southwest NH a week or so ago, but nothing lately for me either. Maybe they are on vacation for the 4th like everyone else.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Good morning everyone! I'm relatively new to bass fishing. I grew up in NH all of my life, but mostly did trout fishing up in North Conway area. I live in the Hillsboro area now. I've gotta say I've had excellent luck at all of the lakes and ponds around here within a half hour of Hillsboro. Lake Massesecum was great yesteday...Island Pond off 31 did nothing for us. Pleasent Pond in Henniker is a great smallmouth pond, and always good for catching something. There is also a killer Dollar Store/Tackle shop here in Hillsboro. Not sure of the name, but it's on Old Route 9 just through town of Hillsboro. We got tto the water around 6:40am at all 3 ponds over the last 2 weekends, but did not catch much until around 10:00am or so. Mostly using a Rapalla F-9 in almost any color.
