What?! I'd never dive in for a combo, not even a $600 combo. Of course, I'm not that great a swimmer, either. I'd be ticked, but I sure ain't goin' in!

My favorite spinning combo that I bought when I first got into bass fishing was a St. Croix Triumph rod and Shimano Sedona..  Nothing special, but expensive for me back then.  I dropped it into the lake after the most amazing day of smallmouth spawn fishing on my way back to the launch..not even fishing.  I marked the spot on my electronics, and came back in the spring.  Dove down again and again, and after about 10 minutes came back with my rod.  I felt like a complete hero.  That lake has extremely clear water, so I felt good about going in.

 

I also had a friend that lost a rod on the same lake due to a fish grabbing a lure that was hanging out of the jon boat, and pulled the rod into the water.  I found the rod at the other end of the lake in about 7 FOW one day while out fishing.  I snagged it with a jig and brought it home to him.  He thought I was joking when I called him.

Surface temps will be at least around 80 degrees by the end of the day.

 

Fish are in their summertime patterns.

 

Bunch of 2-3 lb smallmouth. There are a few largemouth as well.

I have not been out since I was there last time.  I'm dying to get out again, but I just have not had the time.  My 3 year old has different plans for me.

 

I usually get out on Fridays, but my wife and I are taking our kid to the ocean this Friday.  Maybe next Friday?  I can get there pretty early.

My man, think the other way. Go up to a jig/Craw or a Tx rigged big worm, and just really creep that thing along slowly along ledges. Oh, and try to hang on to those rods! Carolina rig is a good idea, also. Try an Eeliminator on that. I almost guarantee you'll end up with the biggest fish of the day.

Went to Newfound this morning, caught two lakers with my cousins friend. Never fished for them before. There weren't too big but fought okay. Then switched to smallmouth and also just got a couple of small ones. Hot day, they were deep. I might have used a different strategy but it wasn't my boat and only my second time there. On my way home, I passed Webster Lake in Franklin, anyone fish there?

Went to NHTI pond yesterday for 2 hours.  Concentrated only on the right side of the pond from where i dragged the kayak in.  Fished this thick stuff for the whole time.

 

first i ate these,  at the weathervane having dinner with my boys.  then i fished.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

13 fish total   most between 16 and 18 inch.  some as small as 12"  had some bites that seemed bigger but could have just been heavy weeds making them seem bigger. also lost several in the weeds.    I think i need a faster reel to get the fish on top of the water and keep them from diving back down.

 

40lb braid with 30 lb leader   , all on greenish db craw w/big heavy keel weighted hook (Thank You Shane) or purple /blue flake rubber worm (regular hook rigged weedless ) casted high and using the power of the drop to pop thru the pads and weeds.

Usually, but not always. Sometimes the bigger-profiled skirted jig, adds just the right bulk to put it over the top for bigger fish. The main difference in those two presentations, is the Tx rig will come through weeds better, and you can let the weight slide up and down in deeper water so they don't feel the weight when they grab it.

Anyone have any pointers for Bow Lake?  Thinking of heading there in the AM.  It's a little bigger of a lake than I'm used to fishing in my Nucanoe.

At this time of year I have always had luck fishing any of the islands on the sides that are against the middle of the lake if you go in the morning hit the docks. But I have not fished it in two years because its a pain to launch a big boat by myself there. The water is very very clear.

Thanks Bob.  I've fished it a few times with limited success, but I wasn't fully dialed in with my Nucanoe at the time.  I heard the docks hold some nice fish.  I'll be there early in the AM.  Looks like it should be a good day on the water tomorrow.  If you ever need help launching your boat there, I'd be glad to lend a hand

Took the trip to Highland today my buddy who is back from his 2 year tour in the Marine Corps came with me. Had a good day caught 7 fish all around 1.5lbs the 3 biggest were 2lbs 1oz  a 2lber and the biggest which I caught being 3lbs 1oz. There's something about that place that I just love hopefully I'll hook into a big fish soon.

For Bow Lake I have had good luck to the far left from the launch side.  the small part of the lake has a small channel ,   thru that channel and around in that whole area, between and around those islands,  the 4 or 5 docks before you go thru the channel , and after you go thru the channel in all the rocky areas,   bring extra anchors.   also it can get a little rough if the wind picks up.   I have not been able to fish much of the big part of the lake,

Meeting a friend of mine from college to do some fishing this weekend. We will be night fishing tonight and then 2 12-14 hour days on fri and sat. Sunday morning to finish of the fishing weekend. Hopefully will catch a fish or two. Would really like to get into some big big bass.

Hey guys I know this is the wrong forum, but we are all around southern NH, so I thought this would be the best place to post this.  I have two kayaks (sit on & sit in) that have two hairline fractures that could be easily fixed with some marine sealant, I just don't want to.  I'm selling both of them for $50 together.  I really am just trying to get rid of them and upgrade to an actual fishing kayak.  If anyone is interested just message me or post on this forum and I will gladly post some pictures for you guys.  Have a nice day and tight lines! 

Ok quick question to anyone that likes fishing Texas Rigs. They are absolutely my favorite thing to fish hands down. I want to increase my size catch and I am willing to go empty handed some days just to get a big bite. I am very proficient with a Texas Rigged rubber worm. If I was to really target big fish with this bait what would be your recommendations as for size of worm,bullet weight, presentation? Just looking for some good tips.

Big worms, at least 8 innches and very slow. Drop it down an incline or go into some very thick lily pads. My pb of just under 10 was using a Manns Grape Jelly 10 inch worm in the thick pads. It dropped into a hole and bam! It was about noon on a day like today

You can fix those yaks with fiberglass as well,   thats what i used on the seams of mine.  better than new.  some of you boatless guys should jump on these yaks.
