Why are all my lures with the orange bottom more successful than my baits without it?

I'm thinking the orange bottom mimics the sunfish, red ear, blue gills right?

I have a very cheap spook copy in orange that i threw oneday that caught bass when nothing else worked. We don't see that many orange colored lures for bass fishing.

I wish all my lures/baits had orange bottoms. Very effective.

I figured this out about 35 yrs ago & will not buy a lure without orange or red on the bottom.

Studies have shown redheads put out the most..

Get some coloring and paint the bottom of your favorite cranks orange or red.

Simple solution and let us know if it increases your hook-up ratio.

ROFLMAO!!! Didn't see that coming! Regardless, fishermen (in general) put way too much stock in color, in my opinion. I guess that's a good thing for the industry though.

I've seen days where color made no difference at all & I've seen days where color was the different between skunked & not.

Why not an orangue/red belly? Best of both worlds.

There was a point last year where every Skinny Dipper I threw got hit with an orange Spike-It marker.

Sunfish make up a significant portion of the forage base where I am, so I find that there are some lures that are very effective with some orange on the belly. The ones that I find most effective are jerkbait and lipless crankbaits.

I really love the redheads with blue eyes and even the brunetts with blue eyes.

The bigger bass eat sunfish as a main diet and other bigger fish too. Right?

Maybe this is why my older bomber FAT A's still produce so well with the orange bottoms.

I'm having some lures repainted and i'm looking for orange bottoms on all of them.

I'm having success and i'm fishing from shore in places that are n't fished correctly. These guy s use nightcrawlers mainly so there missing the scope of the bigger bass picture.

I've heard about orange belly rogue's here. What floating brand should I invest in? Or which is best?

I don't know what it is, maybe it is just a color that bass can see easily but it works and has worked for years. Smallmouth seem to really love it.

right here! I'll take an orange belly crank on a craw or bluegill imitation,but will never know why a bait company would paint a LMB crank or swimbait with such detail to imitate the forage,then stripe the belly orange?? never caught one,or seen one w/ an orange belly?

iv'e done much better with a dark back/light bottom crank on any body of water iv'e ever fished....

when its winter and i'm dreaming of bass fishing,these thoughts run through my mind.. but the fish have turned on/pre-spawn patterns just starting here!!

No it does not but it does extrapolate that watermelon neon will out produce watermelon pepper or a gold black back orange belly will outperform plain white belly.

Orange and red highlights can trigger bites sometimes. The best example for me has been red flakes in soft plastics and orange bellies on jerkbaits. It can make a huge difference.

Orange nail polish on the belly is a good little trick for crankbaits. Careful, it can throw the action off on some jerkbaits, like the Pointer 78. Orange or red Sharpie marker on the underside of white soft jerks/flukes is another useful mod for river smallie fishing.
