Chatterbaits

Do you use a trailer or not? If so, what type or style? I'd guess anything bulky would affect the retrieve.

I use a rage craw on mine just like I would a jig.....good results so far and no impact on the vibration, actually caught quite a few on the fall like a jig using this setup.

I've rigged Jr. flukes on them and done ok. It didn't seem to mess up the action, and gave the fluke a nice swimming action. I don't really like chatterbaits in general though..

I use Lake Fork Live Magic Shad, Zoom Swimming Fluke, or sometimes just a plain ol' grub.

I have been using a 4" curly tail grub lately with some success. The jury is still out...most of the time I use the trailer that comes with the original CB. A buddy swears by the Lake Fork Magic Shad without a skirt...

I have not jumped off into the chatterbait frenzy yet but would like to try it if it produce fish. How are ya'll fishing the bait? Steady retrieve, stop and go, or what?

I use a phoenix vibrating jig with a swimming senko cut in half works great

If the bass are on a strong shad bite, take the skirt off of the Chatterbait and put on a 4.5 or 5.5 inch Lake Fork Magic Shad. Fish the bait with and erratic retrieve and hold on. It is a very versitile bait that can be fished from shallow to deep with great results. It looks so good in the water that at times I want to jump in the water and eat it myself. It's as good of a big bass bait as there is.

I usually use some kind of swimbait for a trailer. I have had good success with the Berkeley ones, not the hollow belly but the solid ribbed ones what ever they are called. I cut the head off and they work great for chatter baits and swim jigs.

Alrighty then. I will fish them the same as I do a swimjig. With a paddletail trailer. I was worried something too big would screw up the action.

never caught one on a chatter bait.
