What is the best way to fire a group of bass up that are on a grass flat that is as shallow as 2 feet, but also hits 5 feet when your boat is right over grass? This happened on Sunday during my tournament, we found a flat and would have a flurry up to every 45 minutes on this one spot, most were 2-2.5 pound fish caught by swimming a worm slowly through the grass

I like to use a spinner over the top or a lipless crank just rip the lipless once it touches the top of the grass.

Maybe stick with the worm just change colors drastically and or change the shape of the worm, like going to a more aggressive tail section.

I like to burn a Stanley Ribbit over just about every piece of real estate in that situation. You may not catch any, but a couple will show themselves. Then go back and work them with the worm that was working before.

We don't deal a whole lot with grass flats here. But schooling fish we do. I have fired up a school simply by accidently slamming a rod box too hard or by raising the trolling motor and the sounds scary any baitfish around us. Sometime once we catch several out of a school, we will fire up the boat and make a big circle around our area to stir up the shad. Probably not the most effective at all times. But it does work and could be worth a try.

I've actually heard the "cranking the motor and making a circle" trick but I've never tried it. I think the next time I'm in this situation I'm gonna give it a try.
