Do Bass Prey On Each Other?

Featured Replies

I'm sure this question has been asked many times. Do larger bass eat smaller bass? Will a 5 lb'er eat a 1 lb'er? I just wonder if all these smaller bass I see along the banks of the pond I fish are actually bait for larger bass.

They pretty much eat anything that will fit in thier mouths and even try to eat things to big to fit.

Bomber Square A in babybass is a very effective color for me for catching bass. If that counts?

Bass difinately are NOT C&R when it comes to their own. I have caught several bass on live bass. I think bass may prefer their own over shiners, shad and bream.

I firmly believe a fish puts out a distress signal that intices others to eat it.

One of the coolest things I've seen in the great sport of fishing is when another larger predator will come in and grab whatever your reeling in. I've seen bass do this to other bass a few times now. Even had a big blue cat grab a 1lb bass and swim off with it once.

I have a school of bomber baby bass, they produce better than most of the colors I use

I've read that larger bass will feed on smaller bass. In fact, I can remember catching a seven pounder on a rapala xrap in the pattern that looks very similar to a baby bass.
