Probably sounds dumb but I was wondering does it matter which post you use when charging? Can you use the marine post or do you have to use the bigger post?

Not quite sure what your asking Endless, but I assume you are referring to a battery that has both side posts and top posts, if so it does not matter either way.

Mine has the two different top posts, the marine and the one that looks like would go to a car terminal. So this is fine? I just always wonder did it matter.

charge on either one, makes no difference. If you can hook to it to get power out you can put power back in the same way.

If you have clear access to the post itself, it's always much better to charge it with the clamps on the larger posts endless, it is ok to charge it either way as long as the clamps make good contact with the screws.

However I would recomend charging by the posts for obvious reasons, the clamp makes a much more secure contact with the post allowing the clamp to easily allow the current to flow.

If you charge it the way it shows in the pic chances are you are not getting a potential full charge, I do not see where the seat of the battery terminal has been cleaned at the bottom of the screw area, so the wing nut is just screwed down onto a dirty lead base, that will eventually damage your charger.

By the way you have the negitive and positive leads on the wrong terminals, don't turn the charger on !!!

I was given the same info at an Interstate Battery Store. Their explanation was that you get a more reliable contact with the lead post. Clipping it to the bolt can result in a less than ideal connection. Battery chargers measure the state of charge in a battery and recharge it accordingly. If you have a poor contact, it's likely the battery will not get recharged properly.

Red to positive, black to negative...

Funny part is I had to rewire the terminals and did so backwards so I switch the colors to remember which, lol. When posting pic I knew I would hear bout it.
