Braid For Spinnerbaits ?

Featured Replies

30lb braid to a 15 or 17lb McCoy copoly leader of 5' on a fast action rod. Great sensitivity, and this set up keeps fish pinned.

I don't think it makes much difference with spinner baits.  I fish spinner baits every time I go fishing, but I don't have a rod set up for them.  I use what ever rod and line combo that isn't being used at the time.  I catch bass on spinner baits with straight braid, mono and braid to leader.  I can't really say which one I prefer.  I don't fish floro very often, so chances of me using floro for a spinner bait are slim, but does happen, without any problems.  My default line is mono.  If your default line is braid, than that is what I you should use for spinner baits.  Best to use what you are comfortable with in most situations.

Why aren't more people using straight braid for this? Higher sensitivity, stronger hooks sets, thinner line diameters, cuts vegetation easier. I feel like I'm missing something important about fluorocarbon for spinnerbaits.

I like the less stretch for the spinner and buzzbaits with braid, what I don't like is when the casted bait decided to tumble during the cast and becomes tangled in braided line.  It's a real PITA.
