anyone?!? I curious like a cat

Yup, I use a horny toad as a trailer but not always. Oh and sometimes I take the skirt off.

In my opinion, a trailer hook on a buzbait is more important than a plastic trailer.

However, if you want to bulk up the buzzbait then use a trailer.

Be aware that the plastic trailer may impune the buzzbait's action and keep it lower in the water than it was designed.

My thoughts exactly. It may beef up your bait causing you to have to reel faster to keep it abover water. Alot of the times the key to a successful buzzbait is being able to fish it slow and if you are burning it accross the water trying to keep it afloat you will not be in the strike zone very long. Just a thought! Good luck experimenting. I am curious to see some of the other guys thoughts on this...

I don't bother with a trailer or trailer hook. i will use a piece of floating worm on the hook on small buzzbaits to give a little more weight to cast. This is not long enough to be a trailer and should keep it on top easier.

thanks for the input - I originally put a small black and blue flake on it, it is a black buzzbait.. I used a crawfish looking 3" plastic and pulled to claws off which left a long curly tail, looks interesting, I will post a pic when able - will let you know if it gets any bites! Thanks for the responses!!

I put treble trailers on a few of my buzzers.

I never use a plastic trailer or trailer hook on my buzz baits. But then again with Cavitron buzz baits they are just not needed!

Try this, slide off the skirt. Slide on a tube bait. Makes it pop up to the surface quicker, and you can slow down the retrieve w/o it going under. slide the head over the weighted part and it won't slide off.

I use a rage tail grub as a trailer, tail gives more action for a harder strike. I never use trailer hooks on buzzbaits. My wife however uses them just as they are and doesn't have a problem.

Results will vary from different places and structures

Years ago an accomplished fisherman used to wacky rig a senko on the hook.

I like to pull the skirts off and put hollow body swimbaits on have had a lot of luck like that
