Need A Reel To Match A New Rod Cumara 7'-4''

Featured Replies

Just ordered a Cumara 7'4" jig rod and I need a reel to match with it. My price range for the reel is anywhere from $150 to $275 new or used. It is gonna be my dedicated jig rod for footballs 1/2oz on up. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Curado 50E

I just bought same rod Its a fantastic rod you will be happy.

My personnal preference is, with a light rod like that you wanna put a Magnesium frame reel on it so it doesn't take away from the lightness of the rod...I have a Core 100 on my Cumara and love the way it balances and just how light the combo is overall..I'd go 6 oz. or less on the reel (Core 100,Core 50,2007 Metanium MG,Aldebaran mg,Chronarch 50 mg)

you can get a revo mgx on ebay for around 250 now or a revo premier for 200 from BPS. I have one of each on crucials and love them. The shimanos are such light rods that the Revos just seem to match up better. I've used both Curados and Chronarchs on them and like the feel of the Revos a lot more. Never used the Core but I bet it would be one sweet setup.

Join the team, slap a lews tournament pro on that puppy!

My choice would be a Revo Premier High Speed retrieve for your new cumara jig rod.

I was looking at a Chronarch D7 or a Core 100. Any thoughts on those 2?
