My boss, bless his heart, is buying me a ff gps unit. I know there are other topics in this part of the forum, but dont know how dated they are. Any input about what model, maker.....would be helpful. I dont want to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I want to keep it under $650. Thanks in advance to any who reply.

    I just bought a new Lowrance HDS 5 gen 2 unit from a sponsor on another forum for $630. I have 2 of them now and they are great! Humminbird makes great stuff too! Go to bass pro or cabelas and play around with them to see which one you like and make your decision.

    I have a new Humminbird 597ci HD combo,and so far i have no complaints about it.GPS feature works great on new bodies of water.

    Great advice to go to BPS and play with them. It's what I did and it helped me a ton.
