Fishing out of the Merrimack River in Haverhill, MA. I was using a cheap ole walmart lake rod laced with 20lb test. Every time that thing came 6ft to the shore he took off and wanted to snap the rod lol.. After about a good 15+ mins i think he had enough. Was using regular worms i dug out of an old leaf pile in my yard. I wanna say its like 10lbs but what do you guys think? Biggest fish i ever caught and longest fight that's for sure.

Nice catch sounds like you had some fun getting him in.

it really was, i was shocked when i laid him into the water.. He took a couple breaths and jus hit the road. Maybe he tired me out more lol

Nice fish. I've always considered it a real treat when I've had the opportunity to fight a carp.

10lbs looks to be about right. Carp are a good time to fight on rod and reel but I'd much rather shoot them with an arrow, plus they make great cutbait for big catfish. If you want a big fish that's easy to catch and found about everywhere and pull like a truck, carp fit that bill about perfect.

Good job. Now that you've caught your first carp, you'll be hooked. But they don't come so easy. When you want to catch them, they don't seem to cooperate :)

Keep up the good work!
