If you're thinking about the Jupiter go with the T series instead. I just bought one (7' MH/XF) and it has a better blank, and a 5 year warranty as apposed to the 1 of the Jupiter. I think its only like 5$ more. Plus I like the full ACS reel seat better.

Whatever rod, get a medium-heavy fast action 7' or 7'6". I do like the Veritas or the Field and Stream Tech Spec Elite from DSG.

fenwick elite tech smally rod or veritas

I've got 2 of the Fenwick rods. Both bought for about $81. It is getting harder to find them marked down that low any more. Seems smalljaw has been too vocal in recommending them! :eyebrows:

I think the Tec Spec Elite in MH is a 6'10" rod. Nice looking rod, but I haven't got one. Do have the standard Tec Spec, but it is a Medium. Definitely not suitable for frogs.

I have the 7' MH Jupiter rod. Got to use it one day before leaving Florida. Rod stayed there for further visits. I liked it, but must admit that I like the looks of the T-series better. The extended warranty wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if I liked the Jupiter better. Guess I'll have to find out. :)

You need to look at the Denali Jadewood series. The 7 ft. MH Worm/Jig rod for $99 would probably work for you. This series is a very big seller for Denali and I honestly don't think you'll find a nicer rod in that price range. They look and fish like much more expensive rods.

St Croix Mojo Bass is a nice rod in that price range, I have a 7' Medium/Curado setup I love, but if you are throwing frogs in heavy vegetation I would suggest a MH to wrestle the bass through the thick stuff. I've got a 7'3" St Croix Rage in MH I use for frogs and thick veg, but it is around $150 I think.

If you can find a Fenwick Techna AV, open your wallet and give them whatever they want, and walk out the door!

There is a discount tackle shop down here that had a few. I bought a 7' mh/f that is now my favorite plastic rod.

6'6"-7" MH/F St Croix Premier works well for this

x2.....

the St. Croix Premier is nice if you want a full cork handle.

I've heard Veritas rod is really good for the price or Mojo Bass from St.Croix. But if I were you, Id go for the Veritas

This is the exact rod I bought on closeout about 3 years ago. Plastics is what I mainly have it set up for, but definitely not afraid to throw a frog on this rod. Lots of power. I wouldn't mind having a 7' Medium.

6'6" MH rod. If your fishing from shore, nothing is better, but if you're on a boat, you may want to up the length to 7'
