Should I Get Another H2O Mettle Or A Black Max?

Featured Replies

the mettle is a centrifical brake system like the shimanos. The Black Max is magnetic brakes like daiwas or cheaper models of most companies. I have had both and prefer the handles on the black max. Both are cheap and easily disposable. Get which ever one is more comfortable to hold and fish with. Now Everyone else on here is going to tell you to spend $130+ on a good real. I have had those reals and they are nice but I like to get new reals every season so I don't buy them anymore.

Magnetic brakes are not cheap, just a different style, and while Daiwa's do utilize magnets, the system is FAR from that of a standard mag brake. Daiwa's act like a regular centrifugal, but are much smoother and only utilize brakes when needed.

Daiwa magnetic brakes are nice, I was just comparing the breaking system for him. Most reel makers put magnetic brakes in there cheap reels. Not the same class or type as daiwa but still magnetic.

Bring the mettle back and they will give u a new one for free

H20 mettle gets my vote. I prefer the centrifugal braking system and also the mettle Has twice as many bearings as the Black max.

take the mettle back and get a new one they have a lifetime warranty
