What conditions would the Firetiger color pattern be effective?

Featured Replies

I was curious what types of lures you guys use in firetiger colors and when and where to use them.  Also what is the firetiger pattern supposed to mimic? Thanks!

One of my favorite spinnerbait colors is firetiger. I'll use it anytime the water has some color to it, or anytime for River Smallmouths. Smallies really like "hot colors" when they're active.

It was originally called hot perch, it is a perch imitating color, with all the colors being flourescent.

ANY condition.

I believe it's obvious what firetiger is supposed to mimic - - a tiger that has caught on fire and jumped into the water to put itself out. Makes an easy target for a bass.

The old style (read Made In U.S.A.) Bomber 7A in fire tiger was a MUST HAVE!!! on the Hudson River.  It was almost a powder-coat finish and it was a producer.  Great stuff, good times.

I like the bigger square a's in firetiger, the one with stripes not dots.

Common thinking is that is for darker water but I always give it a shot, clear or dark.

My biggest Musky (48") came on a Bass Pro Tornado spinnerbait with Firetiger skirt bass fishing in a lake you can see 12 feet down.

ANY condition.

x2 - Doesn't work everywhere, everytime, but works in enough instances to never discount it.

Any where any type of sunfish are present ;)

I mainly fish stained and muddy waters and FIRETIGER is a must with all crankbaits and spinnerbaits - plus, Bluegill is a predominate forage in the waters I fish.

No shad (or crawfish to speak of) in my lakes - primary forage is "brim." I use firetiger cranks and spinners quite a bit. The bass in my avatar was caught on a firetiger Roostertail...

*** is bang on...like always!

I use firetiger spinnerbaits for smallies, by far the best color for them.

I have a firetiger 5" swimbait for largemouths

I use firetiger cranks for smallies with success.

I think they try to immitate perch...at least on my lake, they look like a perch.
