Flouro Suggestions

Featured Replies

I have only used 2 types of flouro over the years. Vanish-Vicious-Vanish, thats how my cycle looks. Im thinking about attempting to go with a higher grade as I begin to gear up in hopes of starting to fish a lake in anticipation of fishing a USA Bassin series there in 2013. Price is important as Id like to keep it around what Im spending now but Im not against paying twice as much if I can REALLY tell a diffrence between it and Vanish.

Here are some Im looking at(Any others wont fall on death ears)

Bekley 100%

Vicious Elite

P-Line Halo

Sunline Super FC Sniper

Id prefer to go with one that offers a 15# test, but Im not against a 14#.

I've never fished with FC personally, so I can't offer too much advice. I've heard excellent things about the Sunline Sniper line though. Here's a link to a somewhat outdated but still useful test that Tackletour did on some popular FC lines.

I have had great luck with Invisx on spinning gear, and Abrasx on casting.

I really like the yo-zuri hybrid and ultrasoft...and both are really good values.

I have also used and liked the cabelas brand of FC...heard that it was made by seguar, but can not verify.

also pretty easy on the wallet, but I have found it strong, easy to manage, and very castable. I do not think it is particularly abrasion resistant, but I have only fished it in 6 lb and 10 lb.

I use Vicous on my crankbait rod. I love it and its easy on the wallet. I've used BPS XPS fluoro too, not bad either. I did not like Berkley 100% fluoro. I had a lot of break offs using it compared to the other 2 mentioned. The lines are getting better every single year so there are a lot of "trial" spools to be had.

Yup. InvizX on spinning and finesse casting, and AbrazX on everything else.

Also, BPS makes a VERY nice all-around flouro, but they never seem to have it in stock at the store :(
