Yum Money Minnow

Featured Replies

i was wondering if you guys have used the 3.5 inch yum money minnow for smallmouth and had any success? i was thinking about getting a few. and also what color would you recommend

I've tried them occasionally with the YUM weighted swimbait hooks with no luck yet. I can't seem to keep them deep enough for this time of year. Might need to add a bullet weight. I'm going tomorrow and will give it another try.

I see on TV they work just great! :headscratch:

Smallies are hitting 1oz spinners (double willow) w/ trailers right now though.

I've successfully used the 5.5" SK Shadalicious on smallies when river fishing in the spring. I use it with a screw-lock, weighted swimbait hook. You can toss them in the worse, snaggly laydowns you find and they'll bring out the bruisers every time!

I like the Keitech Swing Impact Fat, Shadalicious and Hollow Belly.

Here is some prop for the Hollow Belly:

"Every fish he weighed in was on a 5-inch Berkley Hollow Belly"

I have tried the money minnow before and had plenty of fish follow the bait but the seemed to get bored with it and become uninterested. They looks great in the water i just gave up on them and quit experimenting with them. Now just from writing on this post i wanna pick up a pack and run a money mi.now threw the grass here on the upper potomac and see if that will spark a reaction bite.

Here in the ultra-clear waters of Lake St. Clair, I've had very good success with the 4.5" Bass Magic in Green Shiner. I've also had success with 4.5" Shadilicious in Blue Gizzard. Both baits were hooked on a 3/8 oz. 7/0 Stanley Frog/Swimbait hook.

Never used the money minnow, but the Big Hammer swimbaits are an absolute killer for smallies.
