Featured Replies

Hey everyone, im going to be lining one of my reels with 30 lb power pro braid and I was wondering if I should use a leader. Any suggestions?

If in clear water, yes. Otherwise it is not necessary

If you're more confident with a leader, go for it. I know I always do, but more for a bit of stretch.

It can't hurt to have a leader, but it may hurt to not have have one.

I had a friend who was getting outfished maybe 4,5 or 6 to one using the same lure. The only difference was that he had braid and the other had mono.

He added a leader and instantly started to match the other guys catch rate so I always go ahead and tie one on to be safe.

thanks everyone, but what kind of leader should i use. Some people told me they use fluoro, others tell me they use mono.

The type of leader depends on the fishing you will be doing. For example some guys on here would use fluro leader for just about anything, others would use mono for soft jerkbaits. I personally use mono for jerkbait presentations and fluro for everything else. My best advice is to experiment and see what works for you. Also make sure you are proficient in your knot tying for joining braid with other lines.

I use a mono leader. My prefered knot to join the braid and leader is the Alberto knot.
